Re: Tata Falcon hatchback, compact saloon to debut at 2014 Auto Expo

The Zest looks better than its rivals like Dzire and much better when compared to earlier Tata compact sedans.

Its performance and quality of parts and pricing will be closely watched.

Great job Tata.

At 1106kgs means only 50 kgs lighter than the Manza . Wonder if with all that dimension change they could have further shed off the weight.

Great , perfect recipe to shake the segment and create new benchmarks. Now they need to price them right and going by the recent debacles they have seen , i am sure they are going to price it right. Question now remains? can the BOLT and zest bring in at least 5000units of monthly sales?

exactly my thought, looks better than a desire ? IMO it is looking better than even an Amaze in pics.

Waiting to hear about :

1) Prices.
2) Airbags.
3) Revtron FE (or is it going to be another surprise?).

Glad to know they've not under tyred them. Looks like Tata has deleted the word 'Compromise' from these models.

I'm hoping the Prices & petrol FE figures surprise us! Hope the dealer dispatches are done at the earliest!

Edit : In the exterior, notice they've only done Bumper plastic changes, yet the design has really come out well. Others auto-makers should learn a thing or two from TATA about how mid-life face-lift designs should be!

EDIT 2 : Specs :

Zest :

Interesting to see Zest is just 35kgs heavier than Bolt!

Someone mentioned about just Bumper changes to Vista. Not only that, all the panels have undergone change, the Waistline has moved down, the fenders have been reworked with reprofiled wheel arches. In the end, this is what the Vista should have been to begin with. I liked both the cars, great job Tata.

The unveiling and the overall handling of the project by TATA has been handled and timed extremely well unlike in previous cases.
ZEST and BOLT unveiling has surely created quite a buzz on various media that too within a couple of hours of unveling = really good work, plannning and execution by TML so far.

Re: Tata Falcon hatchback, compact saloon to debut at 2014 Auto Expo

This design is a much needed shot in the arm. I had lost hope of any significant changes when I saw the earlier introductions of Horizon next. Seems like they had saved the best for the last. I take back my criticism of poor updates. I am glad I was completely wrong on this one. The Bolt and the Zest are the best updates that have emerged in the Indian market. For us updates are usually just a few changes in the lights and bumper along with a new color. This reminds of what Chrysler did with the sebring and introduced the 200. That is exactly what TATA had to do with the manza and vista. Now I am convinced that they will follow up with an impressive all new product just like Chrysler have done with the 2015 chrylser 200. I just wish this had happened a year back. Now TATA has to fight with a lot more competition int he CS segment which will soon have an i10 grand sedan.

Manza's fuel tank is also 44 ltrs.
Pls refer the 6th page of the brochure.
Anyways, with a real F.E of 20kmpl, one can have a range of atleast 800 kms with this 44 ltr tank.
Qudos Tata!
Now with Automated Manual Shift it would be even more fun to have all those long drives

Hope the pricing is done correctly!

Re: Tata Falcon hatchback, compact saloon to debut at 2014 Auto Expo

The compact sedan market seems to be coming alive with all these new launches. Will have to wait and see what Hyundai have in store for us tomorrow.
On the whole both the Zest and Bolt look very appealing and the diesel AMT is a very enticing proposition Love the orange and black interior setup but one of the previous posts mentions that the cars in production will have grey & black. Why not stick with the orange?? Rear brakes are drum, now that is a bummer. Wonder what is keeping them from providing rear discs as well.

IMHO the vista was also not a bad looking car but I guess the problem is with the Indica brand name and association with cabs. So its a good thing that TML decided to create separate brand names for these new launches and not carry on with the old names.

Ok, thanks for clarifying! Good to know they've given it such a serious effort.

The new Instrument cluster looks Superb! Would give Germans a run for their money!

They've released a video :

Guess full feature list is yet to get out , the above image shows that the ORVM adjustment is manual , strange for a car which is otherwise loaded with features discussed here .

Re: Tata Falcon hatchback, compact saloon to debut at 2014 Auto Expo

Finally!
I like the looks of the Zest (and the name Bolt ). I hear mention of AMT/AT on a diesel version which is great news (if true). Let's hope that the fit and finish is fully up to international standards.

Re: Tata Falcon hatchback, compact saloon to debut at 2014 Auto Expo

I was never a fan of the way Vista looks, and am disappointed that this new car; the Bolt, also looks exactly like Vista from certain angles.

That apart, I feel its a very positive step. Some angles does make it look very sporty more so with the interiors. It finally looks as if Tata is making its move away from the Indica mind set. That should be a positive in itself.

Must say that on the first look, Diesel looks a better bet for the Zest and petrol a good one for the Bolt. Impressed with that wide band of torque available. Lets see how it is finally on road.

Oh yeah on more point, the pics seem to make it clear that Zest would be the best looking Compact Sedan on our roads once it is launched.

All the best Tata!!
