The engines are 1.6 MPI (petrol MTs), 1.2 TSI (Petrol ATs) and 1.5 TDI (diesels)
Auto box is 7 speed DSG on both petrol and diesel

It looks like Cruise Control is not going to be present in the New Vento although it is there in the Rapid. That is disappointing

So both the petrol and diesel get AT in the Comfortline variant also. That is a very good move. The Comfortline TSI/TDI DSG sounds like a good value for money proposition. Does not miss out on much as compared to the highline. Especially safety features.

Love the new Toffee Brown shade as well as the Night Blue. So Pepper gray and shadow blue no longer available

Interesting approach to a face-lift. Typically all manufacturers have been focusing on exterior and interior changes as part of the face-lift while retaining the same engines and transmissions. VW's approach seems to be the opposite. Focus on the engine and transmission upgrades and minimal changes elsewhere. I personally prefer this approach. Apart from cruise control, there is nothing much else that I personally feel missing.

Interesting to see the positioning of the Vento and Rapid. Essentially the same car and both with multiple DSG Diesel variants. Wonder why Skoda is not allowed to use the TSI AT in the petrol also. On the other hand, the six speed AT in the Rapid is a decent unit and hence gives more choice to the buyer. For Eg: folks concerned about the DSG reliability.

I don't understand VW India's positioning strategy. The cheaper Rapid gets projectors and cruise control. And a 'sportier' variant.

The so called premium vento started out with better features than the Rapid, reverse sensors etc but somewhere along the way, seems to have lost the plot.

the biggest plus is that VW have given ATs in trendline too, and they should be a big draw. The wait now is for the pricing. if VW can price the diesel CL AT under 10 lac, and the HL CL AT under 10.5 lac, they should be a hit with the people looking for a good diesel AT but not wanting to stretch their budget beyond 15 lacs (OTR)

It is going to give City iDTEC a touch competition, especially in Metros where traffic jam and bumper to bumper traffic is a daily trouble. Add to that a wonderful mileage of 21.21. BHPians in Bangalore will show more interest in Test Drive I suppose .

Range starts with the petrol 1.6L Trendline at 7.44 lacs.

1.6L Highline petrol = 8.87 lacs.

TSI Comfortline (Petrol) = 9.35 lacs.

TSI Highline (Petrol) = 9.92 lacs.

The diesel variants are priced from 8.57 lacs for the 1.5L Trendline, going up to 9.90 lacs for the TDI Highline.

TDI DSG (7-speed) Comfortline = 10.49 lacs.

TDI DSG (7-speed) Highline = 10.94 lacs.

Class, comfort, practicality, good looks & modern technology, all rolled into one smooth C segment sedan. If I had the money, I'd buy this in a heartbeat!

Diesel+Automatic+DSG=Killer Combo! While the Tata Zest is a great product, the Vento Diesel DSG should be absolutely fabulous! I just hope it doesn't cost more than 13 big ones.
