It is definitely going to be a Happy Diwali for a lot of performance loving hatch aficionados. Those alloys are going to be hard to find but Chinese will catch up soon I guess in the copy-sell business.

The matte Punto looks smoking hot, this looks like a proper Abarth Punto and am glad Fiat chose to give this matte option. Looks so different and sexy

With 145 bhp under the hood, best in class dynamics, brilliant hydraulic steering, all round disc brakes and vault like build, this thing is as close as it can get to a proper hot hatch. My mouth is salivating at the thought of bringing this car to my garage, this would be super hoot to drive.

It is not going to sell thanks to the arai efficiency hungry crowd but boy oh boy, i would love to have a long test drive of this.

I loved the black one the most. But how can we expect it to be under 10 L. If it happens then we have an instant hit in the segment. It would give Polo a run for money. Fiat has more fans out here than Polo i believe. Along with it the 595 would add some salt and pepper to the other wise also spicey formula.

Is there any chance of having an automatic transmission? I would rather choose GT TSI over this simply because of the convenience of AT with DSG. Having said that the 145bhp + hydraulic steering is very tempting. Also i am willing to know how does Fiat's punto abarth compare against the german GT's build quality?

Apart from the Plastic quality, Fiats are built better than the VW's.
I have a Polo(2014) and a Linea(2010). Linea is totally rattle free at 1.5L kms, and polo has started rattling already at 15K.

+1, the only area where VW excels over Fiat is interior plastic quality. The outside build (sheet metal) is better than VW and from my experience, our 2009 Linea has been a much more reliable and dependable car than our 2012 Vento, that the Linea drives much better than Vento is an added bonus.

Unless you mean interior plastic quality, Punto is generally better built than the Polo. Atleast the Grande Punto.

With EVO, I believe plastic quality has gone up. Even in the older Puntos, although plastic looks like poor quality, they hold up pretty well. VW however has a better attention to detail I believe. Generally speaking.

Was planning on getting the punto evo sport(90) next year. Right now it looks like I might just end up buying the abarth, in the matte finish. Fuel bill be dammed.
Buy one and get those little chrome bits wrapped in satin black and maybe the roof in black and it would be absolute drool-maal!!!!

16 inch wheels that also looks HOT. (Thank god it's not the 16 inch flower petal alloys from Punto 90hp)
195 section tyres.

I believe this shouldn't be compared to the GT twins. "Respect". This now is the real hot hatch for India.

If this is under 10Lakh, hell will break loose for people looking for a hot hatch there will be genuinely first ever hot hatch with 145 BHP under its hood. Cherry on cake is this jaw dropping Matt black finish with orange thrown here and there. This is for sure going to be my next car if priced aggressively. Can't even imagine how wonderful it will be to combine brute power of 145 BHP with amazing ride and handling of Punto!

Got to appreciate the gumption shown by Fiat, & VW for that matter, to bring such hot hatches to our shores.

Guess the only thing that's left is for the Polo 1.8's INR price to be known.
