Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Already in a dilemma. 1.9 or 2.2?

Am looking to replace my ~11 year old Scorpio and major factors I forward in Hexa are space, safety, comfort (ride quality) & ability to cruise and lower price tag. Looks like 1.9 will tick all the boxes but may not be launched now. Not sure what to do.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

While the hexa looks very promising and is an impressive effort from TML, I cant help but think that this is still in no mans land. There is still too much of an MUV feel to it and the XUV looks more macho and has that proper SUV stance. Guess its the sloping bonnet and steeply raked windscreen of the Hexa that give it that MUVish appearance. Its far far better than Aria though.

Lets hope once launched, a side by side comparison with XUV will seperate the wheat from the chaff!!

Thanks dude. Immediately after seeing this post, called up Concorde Motors bangalore -

I - called the number
concorde - hello, hello - did not even announce concorde motors
I - is this concorde
Concorde - Yes, what do you want?? (i should have asked do you sell potatoes/ onions??)
I - When is Hexa launching?
concorde - No idea, call up the team lead
I - Number??
Concorde - xxxxxxxxxx
I - Name??
Concorde - hesitant & gave me his name (when they gave me the number, they could have given me the name to save from all the embarrassment)
I - Called team lead - he says October end.
I - Get your front desk to handle the sales queries well, you will end up with customers with lost interest even before the car is launched.

The Car no doubt will be good. It is still this sales & support that sucks. Being a TM fanboy, i do not mind volunteering my ONE DAY on this.

One thing is for sure: The Hexa definitely has a much more refined look of the two. XUV, while might look macho to some, some of its design elements are weird and over done. The Hexa has much better front and rear view but the profile, though, is just about okay.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Personally I am not so sure. The photos given by jeepster gives a good idea of how it would look like in non glamorous real world settings. I personally feel the design lacks sharpness which is there to a certain extent in the XUV and Crysta.

May be it is because of darker color shade which hides the design elements. Hexa looks sharp in golden, silver color.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

So after spending (Pampered) almost 2 hours at Toyota Dealership for Crysta TD (Self Drive + Chauffeur Driven) went to Tata Motor just to see if HEXA details are out at dealership.

long story short here's what they had to say,

Launch could be done by 2-3 week of October and delivery will start by Mid-November (Question to ask TATA is why would anyone want to register car just 1 month before year end?? IMO people prefer to register their cars in new year keeping re-sell value in mind)

Initially 3 Trims will be launched with Top End having AT option, No details on engine specs 2.2 / 1.9

Price to range between 14.50 L - 17 L Ex-Showroom Mumbai with possible launch offer combined with festival offer

I am sold on Crysta but want to wait for HEXA before i make the decision, lets hope HEXA is worth the wait

Unusual placements for the front wipers.

They were there for the pre-production/test mule variants but I was thinking Tata might go the conventional wiper way for production cars.

They might look ungainly and ugly but for a huge windscreen, they do the job of cleaning the maximum area of the glass, much better than conventional wipers.

Unless the Hexa sees plenty of bookings, I don't see why there would be such an unusually long delay after it's launch.

This, I find hard to believe, since we have already seen the "XMA" variant doing the testing rounds. The AT will definitely be offered in a mid-trim to bring more value to the Hexa lineup.

Which would translate to roughly 13.5L - 16L for ex-showroom, Delhi. On expected lines, although I think the base 2.2L variant will be priced at least 1 lakh rupees less, if not more.

Honestly, am a big fan of that (butterfly) wipers. It was pretty much the same on the Aria too, so it's been carried over.

Yes, it's not very conventional, but adds to a bit of 'variety'. Another car I know which sports this was the previous gen Civic.

Being a XUV owner, I can surely say that the Hexa looks much more refined and sophisticated when compared to the XUV. IMHO, it looks much better than the Crysta too.

Even the interiors and the quality seem to be better than the XUV's.

I just hope TATA prices the Hexa on par with the XUV. And once they have done this, I just hope this car is widely accepted and the sales figures are not two digit numbers like the Aria. It is high time TATA gets the recognition it deserves - after launching great cars like the Bolt, Zest and Tiago.

Looking at the features though, I think this will be priced about a lakh more than the XUV. Even in that case, I think this is a very good alternative to the XUV.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Being larger than XUV500 and hence more practical (especially regarding boot space), a premium of Rs. 50,000 over an equivalent (feature-wise) XUV500 would be quite acceptable.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Looks a real handsome MUV! I think this would be more an Innova alternative than the others like XUV - although priced right and specced right, who knows? As a former Sumo user and Tata Motors well-wisher, hope it strikes a chord with potential buyers.
Didn't much care for that large chrome strip on the rear though.
