Thanks to my friend Manoj for sharing the brochure
Thanks. So getting a Zeta makes sense. All you lose is
LED headlights and DRLs, LED rear combination lights,
Auto headlamp leveling, leather seats and steering wheel, Auto headlamps and wipers, I feel these can be lived without unless the prices are too near to Alpha.

Zeta would be the most VFM variant even in face lift. As per my sources it would be priced under 10 lakhs ex showroom like previous model

Alpha is expected to be priced at Rs. 11.5 Lakhs approx. The big difference would probably be because of the LED headlamps.

Any idea what the "Engine auto start-stop cancel switch" is in the facelift.

That would be a real shot in the arm for the S-cross if true. That would shave off a few extra bucks from on road price in the form of taxes.

But given the additional equipment this one is getting (shvs, projectors, bigger tires, etc), there’s not much room for MS to play below 1 million mark for the zeta.

Pre facelift S-cross 1.3 was 9.82 lacs for the zeta and 8.98 for delta ex-showroom Nagpur. (Excluding the discount that was available lately).

Ciaz with similar specifications as the new S-cross but with smaller rims and tires, is marked at 9.91 lacs for delta and 10.87 for zeta ex-showroom.

S-cross 1.3 would find it difficult to get away if overpriced. Competitors atleast have bigger engines going for them.

You can disable the auto start stop of engine. Auto start stop is one of the feature of SHVS system. The engine would automatically stop when car is stopped and it will auto start by just pressing the clutch.

Thanks Dr. Naren, but does this feature serve any purpose. You lose out on the fuel efficiency and when the engine stops you contribute, albeit in a small way to the environment . Moreover this feature does not seem to be available in the Ciaz.

Auto start stop feature is there in all SHVS cars from Maruti (Ciaz, Ertiga & S-Cross).

Maruti claims that SHVS helps in better acceleration, torque assist etc. But the claimed numbers are same and the SHVS cars are slower too. I believe it helps only in faster crank.

Zeta is super VFM variant and priced just below 10 lakhs ex showroom. I am sure the pricing of Zeta would be below 10 lakhs in all states. They did the same before.

With added features and <10 lakh ex showroom Zeta is definitely VFM. Even more than earlier.

Are the LED projector lamps in the Alpha the same make and specs as in the Ignis and Dzire? Those did have a few negative feedback on the light throw, so hopefully Maruti Suzuki have addressed this with the S Cross.

No idea about the make. CV Raman had answered to one question during Dzire launch that LED projector lamps and DRL are supplied by an Indian vendor.

The outgoing S-Cross had pathetic output with 25W HID system. I am sure the new LED projectors would be better.

Pricing for all the variants seem to be correct in my opinion, because if we were to go in for the features available in the Alpha in the aftermarket it would work out to the same ( correct me if I am wrong )

The biggest + is all the other variants come with halogen projector headlamps which would be welcomed by all.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

While the Pricing is good. It has retained it's VFM tag just like Previous Version, while also addressing few negatives that old car had.

But, more importantly, What a Mess Maruti has made to this car, which can easily be tagged the Best in their Portfolio. Not offering Petrol in Manual/Auto guise. No High Powered Diesel on a car that is the most expensive in their entire lineup.

This brings us to a point as to whom the S-Cross appeals and to whom it disappoints.

Purely speaking from Common Man's point of view, it will appeal to him only because it's a bit different from other Maruti's. He will surely appreciate Good Build, Nice Interiors, Good Features all around. With that small 1.3 Diesel, he won't be bothered about performance it offers. So, he'll get one if he wants one.

The other type, who are looking at upgrade and want something different from their current ride. These people will be disappointed the most. They'll be just getting a New Bottle while the wine will be the same old one. For these kind of people, the S-Cross will be a reject just because it doesn't have a Good Engine to match it's other strengths.

Then come we, the enthusiast who would be knowing everything before it launches in the market. We knew right away that maruti won't be offering that punchy 1.6 Diesel in the facelift. So, interested one's hunted across Nexa dealerships to get one. While some got, others were unlucky. This type of feeling happens when a good product is no longer going to be available.

All said and done, the S-Cross seems to be just an average product now despite it being good in other ways. That 1.3 Diesel isn't worth in this car & has made the car look and feel unworthy. Maruti has to make sure that they tune their 1.5 Diesel to same level as that Fiat's 1.6 Multijet. That along with current car's strengths should help it achieve big numbers maruti is/was hoping for.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

The car in Zeta variant is absolute VFM. Duster Sandstorm edition is a lakh above this and doesn't get Auto Climate control, reverse camera, GPS, cruise control while also returning less mileage per liter.

As for this car being a flop, the 1.6 sold only 4000 in two years apparently (read earlier posts). So the 1.3 had its buyers. The pricing of the rest of the cars in its category will provide more opportunity of sales for the S-Cross, me believes.

This puts further pressure on Ecosport to be placed at the right price. Not to mention, a stonker of a price for Petrol variants when it is launched.
