Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Updates: Apparently Maruti has received the RTO approval. The system approvals are on-going (whatever those are) and deliveries should commence later this week.

@leoshashi: those rims look sweet on the car.

Those Baleno rims look real sweet! While the present set of alloys offered on the new Swift are pretty good by themselves, these look even better. Maruti could have offered this design on the top end rather than the diamond cut design that they are currently offering.

Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

My first post in Tbhp! Had test drive of all new swift zxi+ today at Kalyani motors Banerghatta road Bangalore. Personally I liked the performance. Interior quality is plasticy. Audio was good. Even FM was giving good bass thump. Steering and gear shifts were way smoother than many hatchbacks those I have driven before. I have prebooked the zx+ variant and waiting for allotment now. I still dont understand much negativity about the vehicle in the air. I liked the design from day 1. All black interiors are good. And I prefer it's looks over Baleno or ignis.I have booked it as my own earned first car just because of Trusted Maruti engine, mileage n looks over nexon XE. I may get bashing from fellow bhpians on this choice!

Welcome to Team-Bhp mate

Did you try taking it over some of our potholes/speed-humps? On paper 163mm ground clearance seems pretty less, wonder how it performs in real world. Specially in our city as we have larger-than-normal speed-breakers.

P.S: This thread seems to be pretty silent.

The major eyesore on this car is that big broad ORVM turn indicators with bulb fitted in it. Its time for Maruti to give away with the design of the current turn indicator designs on the ORVMs with a more smaller led strip like ones which can be seen on VW/Skoda cars.

Pretty much conclusive evidence that the Swift is moving away from the enthusiasts, and into more mass market roles. Pricing played a key role too!

+1.

I for one was excited about this car and was considering the ZXi+ AGS as my potential upgrade. The fact that it didn't come in the '+' trim was the first bummer for me. Add to the fact that the ZXi loses out on the LED projectors and the infotainment while being ridiculously priced at 8.5L OTR here in Bangalore pretty much broke the deal for me. The ZDI AGS costs 9.5L! That is proper sedan territory for pete's sake!

Well, I was trying to avoid Honda Jazz last year for one very important reason of the price. The V petrol variant was in the same range between 8.5 to 9 lakhs OTR. Jazz is bigger and +1 segment. Maruti is trying to enter multiple segments. Not good to make any decision easily and not good for Maruti themselves

Jazz is still miles away. Every single manufacturer is going higher and higher.

Swift ZDi+ is the most expensive variant in Bangalore with 9.8L on road.

Whereas Jazz VX MT is 11.46L on road Bangalore.

It is important to note that this is the laden ground clearance of the vehicle and not unladen. The way GC is measured has changed now and hence the unladen GC of the vehicle should still be around 170mm.

I used to think 'India will become a developed country, prices of German cars will come down and I can buy one'.

On the contrary budget cars are upping their prices that now makes me think 'better to shell out and buy those dream cars'.

Life is relative indeed. Sorry for going OT.

Welcome to Team-BHP and congratulations on booking of your own first car,

I test drove new Swift and I find it better than new Dzire. The built quality is amazing and better than Dzire. So, what is the waiting period quoted by MS for Delivery?

There has been a lot of confusion about this but with regards to the new Swift, Maruti has mentioned it clearly in the brochure. 163mm is the unladen ground clearance. Here's a screenshot to clarify:
