re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

Found this autocar review which talks highly about the car.

http://www.autocarindia.com/car-revi...t-drive-403010

Also found this crossover comparison between captur, creta and vitara.

Going by these, I am pretty sure that Captur will be priced at par with or at a slight discount to Creta.

Fortunately Creta is really overpriced for what it offers and hence Captur has some space to play with.

Glimpse 4 - LED tail lamps.

That's the European Captur based on the Clio platform and not the 'Kaptur' we are getting, which is a Duster with new clothes - but renamed to Captur for our market.

Renault surely has managed to confuse a lot of people with their cunning name strategy.

Not aggressive looking at all. It might be a refreshing design, but Compass, Creta, SCross are still ahead. Interior also looks better in the competition. The Duster legacy will be the only thing going for it.

If this review is to be believed, it's a car that'll start at ₹16 lac ex-showroom and has a four-speed automatic transmission so poor that the reviewer recommends going with the manual instead. Fat chance Renault moves any units at all if both of those are true!

The car will be shown, all history and success stories will be highlighted, will further confuse us on Kaptur Vs Captur . It will be an unveil to Captur. Official bookings to commence on 22 September.

Launching ( w/pricing) of the car will happen in October.

For such a large vehicle, they have made the instrument console needlessly small and cluttered for the sake of being stylish.

I don't like it - both form or function.

ACI compares the Captur with its peers! Petrol variant , if any, are not known yet.

Auto india giving false hope to Renault by comparing the Captur with the Compass and the bigger cars like Hexa!

Just to make a point, although the Creta is perceived to be expensive it's got many variants that straddle a wide price point. The 1.4 diesel variants ( E, E+ and S) are pretty well priced. My Friend picked up an E+ variant of the 1.4D at around 11 lakhs on road in Tamilnadu which I think is good value for money. Yes it lacks a lot of features but has 2 airbags and ABS as standard. My friend just had to spend on the audio system and some others like seat covers etc and it seemed good to go!

Hence Renault has to very really careful of how they price the Captur, and not just presume that since Creta is perceived to be expensive and it's still selling well, they cannot get away with some premium pricing.

Would Renault be offering Bose speakers as was part of the package on koleos? In that case it still may price the car higher. Although didn't work out for koleos too, since you can't have speakers as the sole USP of a car. You need more. In the limited promotional material I came across for the koleos, all they majorly pushed was the Bose speakers and the two-part hatch door.

True. Not very stylish IMO.

But on the good side - I think I can see warning lamps for ESC, cruise control and passenger airbag deactivation. Also one that looks like a tyre pressure warning?

Was a 6 speaker system in the Koleos including the sub. Won't be a highlight anymore considering the 10 speaker JBL system in the Hexa.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

I am seeing many guesses here about the pricing cheaper than Creta. While i too wish that to be true, but my commonsense tells that they already have Duster and a new 2018 duster will be out with refreshed interior. So naturally they will position it above the duster.

This can only mean that the C(K)aptur may not be cheaper than Creta.

P.S: I am keen on the AT variant of This, Ruled out duster purely for its interiors so this surely look premium. So hoping they price is well below Creta

Agree, the thick font of digital speedo looks kiddish (or kwidish, if you prefer to call it that ).

But looking at the recent trend of Tata bringing in Harman sound in all offerings, EcoSport facelift rumored to have B&O sound system, Verna bringing in Arkemys sound, Renault should get it as a package or even optional maybe
