re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

If the vehicle is being called a 7/8 seater , that would mean the last row is a 3 seater .

Looking at the photos, shouldn't it be called a 2 seater ? I believe the XUV last row is called a 2 seater and this doesn't look significantly wider. I can't imagine 3 adults seated in that last row.

Do remember that Marazzo has the largest area for any Mahindra vehicle. So, the picture may be deceptive. It may be a 2+3/2+3 seater like a Lodgy. Just let the numbers come in and then we'll all know for sure what this vehicle is. Speculations can't help right now till the official size and volume details are out. Just wait for a little more time for things to be clearer.

The link says its an innova competitor but the specs looks more like lodgy. Engine is only a 1.5 litre and 120 bhp engine compared to innovas 2.8 litre 175 bhp engine.

I beg to differ with the information provided in that link. It has been widely discussed that the Marazzo will slot right between the Ertiga and the Innova in terms of pricing. Also, the Marazzo is a monocoque mpv whereas the Innova is built on a more traditional ladder on frame setup. This means the Marazzo will be much lighter and have almost similar power to weight ratio. Even the new CRV has just 120 bhp but has a claimed 0 to 100 of 11.2. Hence, lighter weight, the torque curve and smarter gearing ratios all make a difference.

The comparison should be with the (old) Innova & not Crysta. Again, Crysta has a 2.4L engine as well & that's what the taxi market will prefer, if at all.

Well, that puts paid to whatever little hopes I had that the Marazzo would be another proper body-on-chassis/RWDer (just what is a ladder on frame set-up, by the way?) like its predecessors the TUV, Xylo, Scorpio & the Bolero.

And if it turns out to be just another also-ran monocoque/FWDer like the rest (the Lodgy, Kaptur/Captur, Terrano, Captiva et al) I fear it too will bite the dust like the rest, who prostrated themselves before the king of the hill, the Innova/Crysta. A core reason for the Toyota's continuing success is the durability, abuse-friendliness & reliability that its
RWD & b-o-c structure endows the car with.

I strongly believe that to come anywhere near the all-conquering Toyota in this MUV segment, a body-on-chassis/RWD structure is almost mandatory - the exception being the Ertiga, which is substantially smaller & carries the Maruti cachet with its near bullet-proof ASS.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

MotorOctane had come out with a scoop in May 2018 showing the rear 2 row of seats of Mahindra Marazzo (link - https://motoroctane.com/news/41499-mahindra-u321). Both the rows have 60:40 Split, and the variant spied was a lower variant with no steering mounted controls, or music system. Suggests that Marazzo will be quite wide inside and very versatile as well with such configuration available from lower variants themselves.

2nd Row Seats

Even on this entry level variant the front seats seem to have individual Arm Rests for both the Driver and Co-Passenger. Mahindra may play the VFM tag and make the Marazzo feature rich to attract customers from Ertiga and Crysta in order to gain many sales numbers for Marazzo.

I just wish that Renault took notice and made safety features (Dual Airbags and ABS+EBD) at least standard on Lodgy to increase sales numbers in response to the launch of Marazzo.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

I wonder if the middle row seats sits on rails and can be moved? If so, that would give greater flexibility to 3rd row usage.

Mahindra Marazzo's twin-pod headlamp revealed

Mahindra have already shown us the Marazzo's grille, tail lamp cluster and the interior with its seating configuration. Now, the carmaker has released another teaser image revealing the MPV's twin-pod headlamp cluster.

The Mahindra Marazzo MPV. EDIT: Now launched-headlight.jpg

The Marazzo gets wraparound headlamps with projectors and L-shaped turn signals. It has a 7-slat grille with chrome highlights and wraparound tail lamps. On the inside, the Marazzo comes with 3 rows of seats in 7 or 8 seat configuration and overhead air-conditioning vents. It has a dual-tone dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system and a twin-pod instrument cluster with a purple back light.

Media reports suggest that the Marazzo could be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 119 BHP and 300 Nm, which could be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Mahindra Marazzo is rumoured to be launched on September 3, 2018.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Mahindra Marazzo MPV red, blue coloured mid and top variants spied.

Quote:
Mahindra Marazzo’s mid variant is seen. It does not get machine cut alloys as seen in the top end variants. But it does get twin-barrel projector headlamps and LED DRL on the fog light.
The Marazzo sits on 16”, five spoke alloys which are offered on the mid-spec models while top end variants get 6 spoke machine cut alloys. Wrap around headlamps with LED DRLs and LED tail lamps are expected to be standard across range.
