Will there be any mechanical changes (Engine), will Maruti offer the Dzire with the 90bhp option on MT/AMT versions ?

Also, will the New Swift be getting an Automatic Option this time ? CVT/TC would be better rather then that AMT which takes away the smoothness of that 1.2 Petrol Engine.

With Dzire, I hope Maruti differentiates it well (More like Vento & Polo) rather then just being a Swift with Boot.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Motor Trend's sources report that the all-new Swift DZire will be coming with an SHVS system, which would give it a key advantage over it's in-segment rivals.

Quote:
The engine would be the tried and tested 1.3 diesel and standard would be SHVS tech along with an AMT option, just like the current Dzire (though current Dzire does not have SHVS).
There will also be a petrol but it will not have an AMT option, instead it will be only available with a manual gearbox.
The new Dzire has been extensively worked upon to increase space from the current gen and it will have class leading boot space and legroom. The interiors too would be brand new but less sportier than the new Swift hatch.

Would the New Dzire be more than 4 metres in length? If not, it already enjoys the tax benefits and why would Maruti plonk SVHS?

SHVS gets you 12.5 percent excise duty, as against Sub-4m which will give you 12 percent.
Hence I feel the new dzire will be longer than 4m.

Exactly, that's my point.

If it's more than 4 metres only then SVHS makes sense. I still wonder why Maruti did not do it for S-Cross and enjoy the tax benefits .

I am sure this is nowhere near to the actual car. The spy shots reveal a curvy a and c pillars instead of the ones shown here.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

And the door handles on the rear doors are not the hidden type.

From what's seen in the spy shots of Dzire and launch pictures of Swift, I think there will be a lot of difference in interior and exterior trim on both the cars unlike the previous two iterations of the Swift /Dzire. Platform may be shared. But a lot of other things won't be.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Wow. This will be better than the Baleno

Desired: Dzire on the Baleno platform, sub 4-m with SHVS and the famed 1.3 Multijet DDiS

Likely to be launched Q3, 2017 which is around Aug timeframe. Worth a buy

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

I wish they would make a notch back like the old Octavia, rather than a sedan. Never gonna happen, as they're more expensive to make, but it'd be cool.

The side profile looks nice and long, more like a proper sedan. The boot too looks better integrated, perhaps because the platform was intended to be a sedan from the start. This would make sense seeing how India is larger than all their other operations combined.

Compact sedans are also relevant in other global markets like latin america. And hatches are getting longer and lower. If it were up to me, I'd make both the hatch and the sedan 4m long, with an option for a bigger boot for export markets. Like Ford did with the Ka/Figo.

Isn't the 2017 DZire supposed to be on the Baleno platform? The linked CNB article is suggesting that there would be no mechanical changes to the 2017 DZire compared to the current gen DZire. Is that true?
