It is also reported in Autocar India that bookings are open now for Dzire

The report from Autocar is confusing. Isn't the next gen Dzire an all new car based on the Baleno's platform? Autocar seems to opine that it will be based on a heavily reworked current gen Dzire's platform. Which of this is actually true? Is it based on the Baleno's platform or the current gen Dzire's platform?

Sir, the next gen Dzire is based on the next Gen Swift and not the Baleno.
The new Swift is based on a heavily reworked Swift platform and hence so will the Dzire be on a heavily reworked platform.

The underlying platform of Baleno and new Swift 2017 is the same (even that of Ignis; a modular platform), and so is that of new DZire.

Maruti trying to reduce the number of platforms from 8 to 4 inorder to reduce the production cost. So, depending again on the current Swift platform for its new version is not a possibility, when they have the new modular platform in place for Baleno and Ignis.

IAB is reporting that the new Dzire will be unveiled to the media on April 24. I hope this is true and Team-BHP has also been invited for this. Hoping to see lots of pictures and trim level details coming Monday.

Another look of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire! Side profile looks very elegant!

To begin with, is several times more attractive and well balanced. There’s a nice flow to the bonnet and fenders, the windscreens and the roof blend into a uniform arch and the strong shoulder line and the compact boot give it plenty of definition.

Up front, the new Dzire borrows its headlights and grille enclosures from the all-new Swift hatchback, and the bonnet, front fenders and headlamps appear to be shared as well. The chin, however, is completely different. It looks much more upmarket.

Maruti designers have added tonnes and tonnes of chrome (around the grille, inside the headlights and it even gets chromed whiskers) and on the Dzire the sporty floating grille has been converted into a more traditional air dam. Even the rear is better integrated and looks less chopped.

looks like 3 cars stitched together. Lacks design refinement as the eye rolls from front to back. Just my personal opinion, may be it is alsoa case of bad computer imagery job.

Why do I find that they have done a similar beauty treatment to the front that the Hindustan Motors did to Amby. I for one find the current Dzire more appealing.

Yes, the news is true. There is a media preview on Monday. I am sure Team-BHP would be covering the same. You can hope to see photos and some first look videos soon after that. However, media drive is expected to be later.

Cheers!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

What's the point is releasing teaser sketches when the spy shots have already shown the full car in detail?

A little bit of smarter marketing would go a long way.

Isn't this a worldwide phenomena? The spy shots are from paparazzis or birdies who leak out information. While official teasers from the manufactures will be released before a launch / start of booking, even though the cars have been without camouflage through spy shots.

Come on folks, credit where it's due! Compared to the first 2 gen dzires ( I was one of the first owners of the 1st gen Dzire way back in 2008 ) I think this design is a lot more cohesive and does not look like a swift stuck with a boot. For sure the sub 4m CS segment is waking up to more acceptable designs like the new aspire, Tigor, xcent and now the new Dzire. Somehow I'm getting a feeling that Suzuki didn't design the swift in isolation and probably considered the fact that there is a huge market in India for a compact sedan and hence the Dzire has come out looking a lot more cohesive.

If the really bad looking 1st and 2nd gen dzires can set the sales charts on fire, im quite sure this new one is going to take Maruti further in India. Wouldn't be surprised if the Dzire outsold the swift all the way, unless GST brings about some drastic change in the way cars are taxed.
