re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

My vote goes to Hyundai Verna!
I was about to vote Nexon, until I saw Verna on the list.
I've always liked the Verna. The quality it offers in it's price range is simply fantastic. It has the looks and has the power needed for the size.
The 2017 Verna also gets ventilated seats which I've always dreamt of driving in summer.

Jeep Compass for Sure

Not only is it a strong butch SUV, but its a global product introduced in India at dead low prices

Also what is seen that it is not hard to displace an established model / brand with a new product.

Jeep just did that by displacing the well known Creta / Tucson / Duster etc.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

Voted for Jeep while Hexa was the closest contender and 2 friends including a BHPian have picked the latter only recently.

The Jeep is not any extra-ordinary product that ticks all the boxes but the brand still carries a legacy of its own and the fact that it entered India with a near perfect pricing made it a game changer today. Goes to show how a good product along with an even better pricing can make wonders.

After all, we have seen super good products go dud due to pricing goof-ups.

The Hexa on the other hand is a brilliant product from Tata.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

I looked at the list and only three cars stood out for me and surprisingly two of them are from Tata. The Nexon and Hexa. I own a Crysta GX AT and Hexa would have been obvious choice for the VFM quotient. Nexon on the other side is a game changer vehicle for Tata that will appeal to the Mass Market.

But then I didnt vote for any of them and instead voted for the Jeep Compass. Its only the appealing and desirability factor of the Jeep Compass that made me come to a conclusion that this is the best vehicle available in the list and worthy to be called as Team-BHP CAR of the year. Its one vehicle that is changing the fortune of FIAT in India, which is otherwise almost dying in the market.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

Voted for Dzire.

Its a massive improvement over last generation, amount of space Maruti could carve out of the given footprint is amazing including boot space. It has got one of the best naturally aspirated 1.2 litre petrol mill in the market. Diesel is noisy, price of higher variants can be looked into and few features from previous VXi/VDi variant are now in ZXi/ZDi.

But all in all, the value for money quotient is impressive for this car. The higher price of diesel trims is offset by rather good fuel economy. And most importantly, its looks more like a small sedan than a hatch with extended boot welded onto it.

Runner Up : Tata Hexa, Tata Tigor. Both are a huge step forward from Tata.

Hexa for me.

Hexa was the product which made people sit up and take note of Tata Motors. And I am talking about the time since it was unveiled in Auto Expo. They were able to re-engineer and redesign an otherwise competent but flop product into a truly desirable one. It has been a year now since Hexa was launched and it still manages to catch people's attention on the roads (some of it could be due to relatively lesser number of Hexas on the road).

This vote is for Hexa being an attractive and VFM product and, the whole transformation efforts being put in by Tata Motors.

My vote goes to the Jeep Compass. I have test driven it twice and loved it.

I came away very impressed with the drive as well as the interiors.

I also liked the Tata Hexa but Tata's fit and finish isn't upto mark. And the manual I test drove was just okay.

I am yet to vote. But the launch this year that had me most excited is not on the list: the Skoda Octavia vRS. Is it not considered a new model?

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

Voted for TATA Nexon, though it is not too relevant for me personally.

It was a close tie between TATA Nexon and Hexa, Jeep Compass and Skoda Kodiaq

I felt Nexon would mark Phase 2 of Tata Revival and that this is a case of a radical exhibition design making it to the roads which I would like to encourage.

While I love the Hexa, TATA did most of the work while developing the Aria itself.

The Jeep Compass could mark a revival for FIAT India via the back door plus it is an extremely competitively priced Jeep. But it misses on many features that it should have at the price point.

The Kodiaq is for me a half price Q7 but is under powered for the size of the vehicle. It is again extremely well priced and has all the features expected, but needs a bigger engine. Should cannibalize the Superb led segment though.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

Voted for the Nexon, drove the diesel mill, it's fun and engaging to drive. And certainly miles better in terms of fit and finish from what we know Tata cars for.

Checked the poll results (early days), but surprising to see Hexa and Nexon at 2nd and 3rd position of the podium already, Maruti surprisingly is missing out big time, is the Indian mindset really changing? Or is it just Team-bhp members are much more informed, cause the sales numbers tell a different story.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2017. EDIT: It's the Jeep Compass

There were some pretty strong contenders that came to my mind this year including the Jeep Compass, Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Kodiaq. Each of these has something special about them. However, over the last couple of days, I drove the Volkswagen Passat. It gave me the same feeling as its cousin - the Skoda Superb had given me in 2016.

The build, looks, space, equipment, quality and sheer class of the Passat is good enough to put it up there with cars costing twice or three times as much.

Absolutely. The badge is the only thing that is likely to limit its audience.

The Volkswagen Passat is my choice for car of the year.

Voted for the Tata Hexa -> The plush ride, the amount of features in a vehicle that's bigger than some of its competitors but at a price point lesser than them.

TATA is on the right path. Been a long time since I was excited about launches from an Indian manufacturer. Cant wait for their SUVs based on LR. Someone said it was all about the looks w.r.t the next launches and if Tiago, Hexa, Tigor & Nexon are just the start, I say to TATA - "Bring It On" !

Exactly my thought too. Its proven right after I voted and saw the results so far!
Its 57 [Compass] to 54 [Hexa + Nexon].

For a moment, I thought of Compass. But, the Diesel AT in Hexa is a big winner for me.

I voted for Maruti DZire actually. Thing about it -

1) For the first time ever, a (somewhat) desirable sub-4m sedan
2) The most desirable DZire among the three iterations.
3) Sales of 30,000 per month for any car in our automotive history.

And hey, wasn't Tata Hexa on last year's list too?

Tata Nexon for me. That too Diesel version.
I've taken a test drive & couldn't believe it's made by Tata.
It's a product that ticks probably all the boxes if you are not watching this Crossover from rear end.
