I can personally vouch for the acceleration figures from 0-60. I clocked it at around similar time (5.2 secs), and 0-80 in ~7 secs. Feels so great when you are at the front of the traffic pile-up at a traffic signal, and then you can accelerate ahead of the herd when the signal turns green! That feels so great!

Honda Amaze has finally managed to breach into the top 10, clocking sales of 9103 units in June 2018. However not even half the sales number of the segment leader. Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs-top25sellingcarsinjune2018.jpg

I think Honda will be pretty pleased with this sales number. I hope they don't raise prices too soon seeing this success. Dzire may have been given priority in production to clear backlog bookings, but if Amaze continues such a run, Maruti may finally have a competitor.

Was under assumption, Jazz is in par with Baleno or slightly better too. Never expected Baleno 19K vs Jazz 2K units (not in this list though). It can't be just Honda ASS, coz Amaze is selling 10K units. I think, 19K Baleno has to be because of the brand/ASS?

Re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

Autocar India has pitted Amaze Diesel CVT against Maruti Dzire AGS and Ameo DSG. They give the honors to Amaze due to the engine and cvt combo.

Dzire is best in terms of NVH

While it is slowest in terms of acceleration

Hope you have heard about the Jazz facelift rumors by now which I believe will address most of the creature comfort concerns with Jazz. But 1.5L iVTEC is never going to be plonked on Jazz unless until City gets something substantially better.

Car to car I would definitely choose Jazz over Baleno any day but what lets the Jazz down is the sheer lack of features Honda is providing in it. Just compare the Jazz features/variants with its main competitors Baleno and i20 and Jazz will feel overpriced. Most of the Features in Jazz can only be had if you pick the top 2 variants, and that's a pricey proposition.

The only USP of Jazz was space which Baleno has neutralized to a large extent. Add to it Honda's 1.2 weak low end power and even the drive in city feels so lethargic (Jazz is a heavy car). Honda can easily double Jazz sales by not being so miserly with the feature list, but I guess they are making bigger profits with Jazz's new avatar WRV so not expecting much from them wrt the Jazz.

Even I am waiting for the official review of the amaze. Diesel with cvt would be a perfect combo for bumper to bumper traffic in Bangalore.

Test drove the amaze cvt today, honestly saying, I did not like the interiors, it was boring, except the mid (after the test drive of nexon amt).
The engine also sounded very noisy, but, may be the fault of theTD car. I would now rely only on the official review, about its refinement and performance.

Re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

I saw the new Amaze on the road which seemed to had 3 passengers seated at the rear. Unfortunately the car seemed to be sagging at the rear much like the Civic. Seems Honda guys have not setup the suspension the way it should have been for the City etc.

Re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

I just booked an Amaze V CVT Diesel. I recently sold my 5 year old XUV500 for an amount as i expected and wanted to go for a bigger car again like Crysta, HEXA etc., Lots of thinking and eventually took a very conservative decision by downgrading to a smaller sedan without taking any additional loan. The requirements were an Automatic, descent power and descent space for my family and for an occasional long trip in a year.

I did not look at many cars and i just looked at Jazz as i knew the space is very good and i also test drove Amaze Diesel CVT. The power on this Diesel CVT was amazing and the Auto box was also super. But, since my family liked the Jazz, i was about to book a Jazz CVT petrol till today morning, but in a split second, changed by mind and called the Honda guy to my office and placed the booking for an Amaze Diesel.

I think the TD experience of that nice power and Auto shifts Plus fuel efficiency quoted in some threads won over my family's choice. I will try and convince them

I see a very good value in this car and hope it serves me well. Looks are subjective and even the vertical front is not very appealing to myself, but it is ok considering the other +s.

For my own driving pleasures, i have my Civic V AT and my Enfield 500 Classic, hence went with my mind this time.

Re: Honda Amaze @ Auto Expo 2018. Now launched at Rs 5.60 lakhs

A relative bought the Amaze petrol CVT. Though they are impressed with the space and ease of driving, they have had a bit of a shock at the in-city mileage. Apparently, it is giving only 8 KMPL, some trips as low as 7 KMPL! Grnated, these are shorter trips of 3-4 KMs each, multiple trips a day for school drops and pick-ups etc. Yet, this kind of mileage seems abysmally low for a small 1.2 liter engine with a CVT. The fly in the ointment is the low fuel tank capacity of only 35 liters, which means they ave to refuel every 200 KMs or so! Since on average the car does 4 school trips a day, one office trip, a few sundry short shopping and temple trips, it travels around 40-50 kms an average day in total. This means it has to be refueled every 4 days!

This is turning out to be very inconvenient and expensive. In these days of hectic city lifestyles and ever growing cities with larger distances to traverse, I wounder why on earth did Honda give the amaze a 35 litre fuel tank? Even my old polo had a 45 litre tank that could actually take 50 litres with the fuel reserve and all. My Ecosport easily drinks up 50+ litres when empty and gives 10-11 KMPL city mileage, so my in-city range is over 500 KMs.
