The exterior of the Kamiq is characterised by a wide radiator grille with double slats and distinct lines on the bonnet. It also features a compact side view, with large wheels measuring 16 to 18 inches and split LED headlights with daytime running lights. The car is 4,241 mm long and 1,793 mm wide and has a height of 1,531 mm. The wheelbase measures 2,651 mm. This is especially beneficial for the rear passengers who can enjoy 73 mm of knee room.

With compact dimensions, the new ŠKODA KAMIQ is presented with a spacious interior typical of the brand. The mainstream city SUV is powered by a newly developed 1.5-litre petrol engine with 81 kW and a torque of up to 150 Nm. The ŠKODA KAMIQ is coupled with an automatic transmission and rolls up on 17-inch alloy wheels.

- It is a tough couple of years in front of us, but we do have certain measures on the existing products (refreshes) that will make them interesting and relevant.

- Priority is to address the local requirements first and then balance-out our capacity with exports

-Dealer viability - There are certain dealers that are in distress. We will see how to help them get out of that.

- Electrics -the economics of small electric cars don’t work. If it’s purely for penalty avoidance and to meet CO2 targets, then yes, some companies will do that.

Volkswagen's next New Product for India - T Cross,

T Cross for India,

In India, the model will get a longer wheelbase and more legroom at the back, thanks to the modified MQB A0 IN platform for our market. The rear seats on the T-Cross will be adjustable and can be moved back and forth. Boot space on the European-spec T-Cross is 385 litres, which is quite adequate for a car of this size.

One of the highlights of the SUV, and something that will make it to India, will be the all-digital instrument cluster. Just like the ones on Audis, they can be customised to show just the dials, the navigation or the maps with a whole bunch of information on it. It works very well in daytime and is very bright and clear to read

India will get a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder EVO TSI turbo-petrol engine under the T-Cross’ hood; this engine will churn out 130hp. Additionally, it will offer cylinder deactivation technology that will enhance the fuel economy by 10 percent. There will be no diesel engine on offer when the SUV makes it to Indian shores.

Expect it to come in 2 petrol variants, the other being the 1.0L TSI engine.

T Cross for India , finer details surfaces. No diesel variants but will get a choice of 2 petrol engines.

VW T-Cross will be bigger on the inside yet cheaper to produce.

The Indian car will not be built using expensive hot-stamped steel. There will be no vulcanised rubber bushings used in the front anti-roll bar (this helps reduce ‘play’ or ‘lag’ in the front suspension), the seats used on the Indian T-Cross won’t be as expensive as the European spec ones, the sliding second row bench that allows for variable boot space will be deleted, and the sealed-in bearing and hubs on the Indian models will be of a lower spec, too.

-T-Cross is headed to India sometime in 2020-2021

- Will be similar to the Brazilian version with 2,651mm wheelbase. A substantial 90-100mm taller than the base European car, the car sold in India will also have longer doors and a more spacious cabin

-the Indian version of the car will have slightly higher ground clearance, which could be as much as 205mm

- T-Cross will get two petrol engines
The mainstay will be a 130hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder EVO TSI.

The other engine that will be the 115hp, 1.0-litre TSI, a three-cylinder unit

Volkswagen is considering CNG-powered Vehicles for India.

With diesels being ruled out for their smaller cars , the group is now shifting its focus on the CNG-powered cars which is, in their consideration, a potential option for the Indian auto space.

Concerning this, a number of Volkswagen models with CNG options which, hereinafter, is named as the TGI powertrain, are in the pipeline to be launched in the international markets like Germany.

EV is ruled out as of now considering it being not an attractive project for the Volkswagen brand in India due to high manufacturing costs and unclear government policies

the discussion is - is it right for the brand to go below the Rapid? To do that, we'd have to come way below the Rs 10 lakh mark, say Rs 5-7 lakh. And it's a very competitive environment

No one would want to buy our Octavia and Superb if we sell a Rs 5 lakh or Rs 7 lakh car beside it

- The world premiere for the SUV in India is slated to happen in 2020 ( Indian Version of KAMIQ ?) - Expect T Cross to follow post the Skoda SUV.

- Product launch in early 2021

- End 2021 will come the Notchback ( VIRTUS / Rapid( SCALA) ?)

- Product differentiate will be the key between Skoda and VW

The product differentiation will be starker than today, for sure. It’s a massive change. The engineers and designers have done a fantastic job of differentiating the cars. The interiors, particularly, look completely different.

- Superb, Kodiaq and Octavia, and new launches will extend the portfolio to six.

- Karoq for the Indian market now, by early 2020

- There will be two more products, and this is just the beginning ( T ROC - ALLSPACE ?)

But, there will be many more on the same platform in the future. That’s the key message.

We will be adding dealerships in tier two, three and four cities too because we will have cars with better market potential in these cities. At the moment, with our product portfolio, it wouldn't make much business sense to have dealers in these cities. But with India 2.0, it makes perfect business sense to have dealers there. Our cars will be competitive because we will be competitive. But our cars will also be high quality, very premium in terms of the design and interiors, but they will be competitive

One of my friend who drove the 1.0 TSI abroad says it is a much sweeter engine than the GT TSI. He says it will be another cult engine like the 1.2 TSI if it is launched in India
