I'm sure many would be OK to have a higher priced, CBU , Made In Japan car
If this does indeed come true, then I am happy to prepay a significant amount and take one asap. This Jimny, in my opinion, is a highly worthy replacement for the Yeti albeit less luxurious. Same goes for the Jeep Renegade, which also, in my opinion is a highly worthy replacement for the Yeti albeit less luxurious.

Desired Pricing: Jimny. India.
Manual 4x4 around 12 Lacs + Taxes and Insurance.
Automatic 4x4 around 14 lacs + Taxes and Insurance.

Desired Pricing: Jeep Renegade. India.
Manual 4x2 around 16 Lacs + Taxes and Insurance.
Automatic 4x4 around 22 Lacs + Taxes and Insurance.

Though denied many times but it is the fact Suzuki Jimny cannot be elusive to India.

Quote:
The Jimny will be placed below the Brezza and the company has started preparations to bring the vehicle in India
Quote:
Maruti will revamp its product portfolio to feature several products in the segment at different price points over two to three years

^^Suzuki has done more damage than good with prospects of the Jimny with this confusion around it. A lot of prospective buyers might have moved to alternate choices rather than living into this disarray for eternity.

re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

The Jimny will not come to India before 2021/22 as per my information. They might manufacture in India but not for India to start with at least.

Don't know about others, but I bought my Gypsy King in 1997, used it for 9 years and sold it to a friend. Have been hearing about the Jimny coming to India since around then.

Cut to today and the time in between, I got married and my son will be old enough to drive next year, while the Jimny is still on its way to India.

Our first modern era car was a M800 in 1988, then a Zen, then an Esteem and finally the Baleno in 2006. We were an out and out Maruti Fans.

I started to look for an SUV in 2009, kept hearing stories of the new Vitara, kept waiting, waiting and waiting. Finally moved on to a Safari in 2010, then to a Pajero in 2011.

Its 2020 now and the Vitara or even the SCross with a bigger engine and now the Jimny are nowhere near to reality.

I moved on from Maruti a long time ago. They only launch what they want with no regard to enthusiasts or to their own success as market leaders who should be setting the trends not following them.

re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Suzuki Jimny SUV will be shown alongside the Futuro-E SUV concept at the motor show.

Maruti Suzuki recently announced that its prime reveal at the Auto Expo 2020 will be the Futuro-E SUV concept. However, what we can also confirm is that in addition to the Futuro-E, the company's latest-gen Suzuki Jimny will also make its India debut at the show.

However, there is no confirmation of Maruti Suzuki launching the Jimny here. The company had earlier ruled out bringing the SUV to India as it did not see a demand for a 3-door SUV, or find it sensible to bring out a 5-door model as the low volumes would not justify development costs.

Suzuki to stop selling Jimny in Europe owing to stricter emission norms (though it will come back with a different engine later). This may help other markets who are waiting for Jimny. Also, this may force Suzuki to change their original plan and decide to launch it in India.

re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Market survey? Gauging public opinion? Haven't they seen everybody cry hoarse for the Jimny since so so many years. Haven't they seen the kind of love people still have for the gypsy.

It is just some stupid MBAs(I'm one too so don't get offended) making some revered excel sheel calculations over the years and telling the bosses at maruti that it won't be profitable.

Common suzuki, atleast once have a Halo Product. A capable Halo Product!!!

If the market survey is done based on the opinion of people visiting the auto expo, it is good for the Jimny lovers because most of the people visiting auto expos will be enthusiasts and will whole heartedly support the launch. But manipulators are everywhere who can tilt the polls in favour of not launching it.

re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Love doesn't put food on the table is what MSIL must be thinking. It's smaller than the Gypsy and not exactly loaded with creature comforts. Gypsy wasn't doing great numbers and their own Brezza is. And then the new Thar seems bigger and better than its earlier version so it's not like Jimny has no competition. And launching it minus the 4x4 will upset the enthusiasts so who will buy this at the price point i think it will be launched at? Launching an India specced watered down Jimny would be worse than launching a fully specced international version at 15lacs!
