As per current rules in most states, car can be re-registered after 20 years but it needs to go through the mandatory fitness test which is not required at the time of 15 years re-registration.

I got my plates updated at some point but very much doubt they are HSRP. Where do I get those? Are there private providers or do I need to fill another form at the RTO?
Either get it from your dealership where you bought your car or you can book it online but the plates will be delivered and installed at the same dealership.

Use this link to get your HSRP plates - https://www.siam.in/hrspsubmit.aspx?...1&pgidtrail=91

They can either be done at home or you will have to visit your preferred dealer and select the same while booking the plates.

There are different providers for different car brands, the above link will redirect you based on your car brand after filling the initial form (completely online, no need to visit RTO).

That is correct. In all places except Delhi NCR, FC can be extended as long as one wants (there are 80+ year old cars and bikes running with valid FC even now)

Not true. Fitness inspection is mandatory even for the re-registration at the end of 15 years, and every 5 years after that.

Fitness check is compulsory at 15 years renewal and every 5 years theroff. When I got my Hyundai accent (2004) renewal done in 2019 and now in 2024, the RTO was particular that everything was in shape. My renewal is due in 2029 now.

Cheers

Hello
Whether anyone dealt with following situation, my two wheeler registration is expired on 2017, now if I want to renew registration, whether I will need to pay penalty for the whole period based upon new charges or can it be based upon what was relevant charges during the last seven years.

My 2004 pulsar's re-registation is due in 2024, but when I login to the Vahan site, it comes with the prompt as "Renewal of registration is not allowed for your vehicle"

I do not remember getting such a prompt during the first re-registration, in 2019. Both insurance as well as environment tax are also clear for my pulsar.

Can you please advise what can be the way forward? Since it's a two wheeler, options like "Apply for fitness renewal" , "Duplicate Fitness certificate" does not work either.

The fitness is valid till December 2024.

How can I re-register my Pulsar? If I am required to just visit the RTO (without any application/appointment), then what is the process and what all should I carry along?

Thank you in advance

Sir,

though I am not very sure about the procedure, may I suggest you visit the RTO in person and check out the procedure? Documents required are the same and further payments can be done as per their advice.Sorry I am not able to help you more as I am not aware of procedure for two wheeler.

Cheers

I cannot speak for the Pune RTOs, but here in Bangalore, there is a restriction that you cannot initiate the renewal of registration more than 30 or 60 days in advance. An agent had told me this and it was valid. That could be the reason why you saw this message when you tried the action too far out in advance.

Please check with the RTO or someone knowledgeable like some local driving school agent who is in this line of work frequently.

Re: Procedure of renewing vehicle registration at the 15-year mark | It's easier than you think

Got my Punto's RC renewal done at the KA51 RTO today through an agent. Total cost was 13K including RTO charges. Most vehicles were yellow board. I reached at about 10-30 am and the inspector arrived at about 12-30pm. The inspection was minimal, the only check was for the chassis number and nothing else.

How long does it usually take for the new date on the RC to show up on the vahan portal ?

In Tamilnadu date change is seen in a couple of hours. I am sure it must be the same in Karnataka as well. Delivery of physical RC is another matter altogether.

Cheers
