To get the official numbers for at least the masses of each variant of a Hyundai car, or for that matter, any manufacturer’s car, the only reasonable way I can think of, is to check the unladen mass on the RC of that specific variant, though I reckon getting your hands on the RC of each variant is a difficult task in itself.

Maruti has done a brilliant job with respect to updates in new Baleno. They have understood the market sentiments very well. AMT serves the purpose for mass market AT buyers. K12 with AMT is not bad at all, it's very practical and getting used to driving AMT cars.. just don't smash the A pedal like a maniac .

6 airbags, ESP, improvement in build (60-70 kg difference in kerb weight) and K12 dual jet engine. Get the pricing right and Baleno is super success product. I am skeptical about the quality of interior plastics in newer Maruti cars. Hope Maruti has improved it in new Baleno.

If I was looking for a new hatchback , would definitely consider the new Baleno. It would be slower than turbo petrol competitors, but those 3 cylinder turbo petrols will never match the refinement and revv happy character of Suzuki K12. Not to forget the FE too.

P.S: I just added more goodies to my 2015 Baleno, so no plans to switch

Changes from Maruti in terms of equipments are actually surprising, but they have to do it to defend the market share as the competition is getting lot more aggressive than ever before. Tata Nexon has already toppled Brezza in volume, allowing Altroz and Punch to remain stable on sales will be worrisome for maruti's future for sure.

Baleno was an instant hit in India with around 1M units sold in less than 7 years. Point to be noted is that its a flop over the globe in every other markets except India, might be the reason why they are sticking to a facelift than full model change even after 7 years and 1M+ units of production.

Added equipments and change of attitude towards passenger safety aspects are good signs for the brand. There is around 35KG difference in the kerb weight of the top end variants may due to the added equipments.

I'm very much curious on the change of the rear quarter glass design? C/D piller was weak or what ?

The new dashboard gives Toyota vibes with Yaris/Camry cues. Going by the market trends there wont be much change in the pricing.

What are the forums assumption on pricing? The current Alpha MT is 8.45L ex-sh here in TN, I assume prices to rise about 45-50k for the MT and the AMT being priced another 45k-50k more than the comparable MT.

Since addition of equipment like 6 airbags, HUD, ESP, 9 inch touchscreen, Arkymys surround sound etc is a generous upgrade, I would expect the prices to go up by almost a lakh for the top spec variants (the additional airbags alone would increase costs by 30-40k as per Autocar India's article)

Also since the base variant is also generously equipped with all four power windows, rear defogger and automatic climate control unlike the pre-facelift car's Sigma that came stripped from factory, I would expect a price rise of 30-40k even on the base variants.

So yes, expecting a rise of 30-90k on the MT, prices for the AT variants might actually come down since the expensive CVT will be replaced by a cheaper AMT.

Nope it isn't mentioned in the brochure. They probably skipped it as the 12V battery didn't really provide significant gains. Also, inclusion of it would have increased the costs.

I actually concur with you, but a price increase of 90k on the top trim would throw it right on par with the i20.
Currently the Baleno Alpha MT is priced the same as the Altroz XZ+, either way the facelift is going to be more expensive than the Altroz, but does it match up to the i20 in terms of features, build etc? Only time will tell if people appreciate the Baleno at that price point.

The extra weight which the car has gained is mostly due to additional features, design etc, if the body would be stronger or the chassis would be strong, the weight would have increased a lot. I really pray that I am wrong tbh.
