Went back to normal diesel and adon d and she's back to her free feel.
I think the xtra green is not suitable for 1.3MJD.
I had the same feeling when my injectors were failing the car would run very sluggish.
From now on it's just plain normal diesel for me.

Hello,

Is XtraGreen a biodiesel blend? Can't find any sources to confirm the same. There's no explicit announcement saying that it's a biodiesel blend.

Thanks

XtraGreen is B7. A 7% biofuel blend. They have been quiet about this. Use cautiously, not all diesel cars are biofuel compatible. Personally, I will never use it when regular unadulterated diesel is available.

Tried xtragreen in my indica. Feel no difference. I use system D additive anyway. Will give it some more time and post update

Re: IndianOil rolls out green fuel "XtraGreen" at 126 Fuel Stations across 63 cities in India

Hello everyone,

This is my first post (apologies for not pinning down a introduction thread first, but fast approaching exam are not allowing me to do the same, so please bear with me).

I want to share my experience with various brands and types of diesels that i have filled in my 2021 Harrier XZA+, especially the experience with XtraGreen diesel.

I have divided my experiences with all the types of diesels in several phases:

1st Phase
0 - 8000KM (including 1st oil change at 3500km post engine run in)
Shell diesel only (later Ukraine crisis happened and shell diesel started to cost 180 Rs)
Average = consistent 11.5 pure city, 13 pure highway
NVH - engine sound was like it was running on gravel, very clattery
Power - good pickup

2nd Phase
8000 - 11000KM
HP diesel only
Average = 9.5-10.5 pure city , 11-12 highway
NVH - engine sounded smoother with mild clatter
Power - little bit sluggish than Shell

3rd Phase
11000-13000KM
Nyara Diesel
Average = 10-11 pure city , 12+ Highway
NVH - same as HP
Power - same as HP

4th Phase
13000-15000KM
JIO - BP
Average - 11 pure city , 13 -14 highway
NVH = very smooth engine sound but little clatter
Power - just like shell

5th Phase
15000 - 24000KM and counting
Indian Oil XtraGreen
Average - consistent 11.5+ pure city , 14+ Highway (touched 16 once)
NVH - higher cetane ensures superb smoothness, negligible clatter
Power - more than shell and Jio BP

Overall I found Xtragreen to be worth 3.2 rupees extra ( in Pune ), hence i stick to it
On highway trips I pre search the fuel pumps serving Xtragreen on my route, to avoid filling normal diesel. (in extreme cases I go with Jio BP)

But make sure your vehicle is B7 compliant as xtragreen is a B7 diesel (I came to know that 2.0 MJD is B7 compliant when I read the fuel label in Jeep Meridian which read B7) or else it can damage injectors.

Could anyone help if the 2013 mHawk engine for the Scorpio (120hp, 290Nm) is B7 compliant? I searched it online and could not find it in the manual either.

IIRC BS4 diesel had allowance for upto 5% biodiesel mix. The mHawk engine, like our Varicors were BS4 compliant - so the best guess I can give is as above. A sliver above the rating. I had tried to ask Tata Motors about this, but they did not respond.

If its not mentioned in manual, then the car engine is not Bio-Diesel B7 compliant.

Eg. Our 2011 VW Vento 1.6 TDi manual strictly says no to Bio-Diesel. Whereas 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.6 CRDi and BMW X1 20d are compatible with B7 Diesel.

Re: IndianOil rolls out green fuel "XtraGreen" at 126 Fuel Stations across 63 cities in India

I keep alternating between Green and Normal diesel, more so in case I'm unable to find the former on some occasions. But I have done quite a few tank ups to observe some differences.

Notably, she smokes a lot less while on boost and runs smoother comparatively. Idling noise is also a bit less...or maybe it's placebo as the 3 liter has a smoother idle than the erstwhile 2.5.

Nothing major apart from this. Fuel economy is unaffected. But yes, I do keep using System D
occasionally with Normal diesel.

Cheers 😊
