Re: IndianOil rolls out green fuel "XtraGreen" at 126 Fuel Stations across 63 cities in India

I have found that using Xtra Green diesel in my Ciaz 1.5D has greatly improved its mileage and engine performance, resulting in a smoother driving experience. However, the only downside is that during long trips, it can be challenging to find Xtra Green diesel on highways. When I have to use regular diesel in such cases, I notice a significant decrease in my car's performance, making it feel sluggish.

In the last 14 months, my Carens has done 24K KMs and i haven't had the DPF message even once. My majority of running has been on highways probably that helps

I have posted this earlier in this thread: my regular petrol bunk attendant says that cabbies with BS6 Diesel cars prefer this. You can try it a few tankfuls and check yourself.

Normally the regen interval is extended in my Crysta and especially on highways I have never seen auto regen triggering even though with normal diesel even on highways it would trigger between 200-250kms. Theoretically with XG the soot production is lesser and hence the DPF should also get clogged slower.

I cant say anything specific to a vehicle, but XG should be fine on any car without any adverse effects. That 1-2% extra bio diesel blend would not do any harm compared to having something like B10 or B20 bio diesel which manufacturers dont recommend.

How did you figure out that XG contains certain % of bio-fuel? IndianOil is quiet on what XG contains.

Its mentioned in certain tweets also shared here that "XG may contain upto 7% of bio-fuel" and another tweet in this post that it does contain 7% Biodiesel.

But no mention of the same when the fuel was made available in various cities from November 2021.

I too saw those tweets. Unfortunately those couple of tweets are the only references. Nothing official on their website.

Received this in my WhatsApp feed.
Can't vouch for the authenticity, though.

This is a hoax which has been circulating for a couple of years during every summer. IOCL has tweeted about this too.

This thing comes around every year. At least we TBHP-ians should not be getting hooked by this.

Btw, there was another note from the Fuel dealers association that companies deliberately under-specify the actual capacity and this is to give some margin for expansion etc.

My Review of Xtrageen Deisel

My observation after driving my Jeep Compass for 2 days on Xtragreen diesel.

1. There is no engine clatter now. On normal diesel, there is some clatter in the 2.0 multijet engine around 1300-1500 rpm before the turbo kicks inn but on the extra green, it is completely vanished.

2. Engine NVH level is improved considerably, now it feels so silent and refined.

3. I will stick to Xtra green diesel from now, the result is simply amazing at just 3-4 rs per liter extra. Will save some environment also

4. I Used xp95 and xp100 petrol on my Seltos but there was no change in the engine behavior, but on the Xtra green diesel , the change is so noticeable.

5. I will recommend Xtragreen diesel to all

Has anyone tried Green diesel in Harrier/Safari BS6 car? How is the experience post using the same. Currently I am using Reliance Diesel and feel the response is better compared to other Diesel at IOC/HP/BP.
