MG Hector - Booking & Dealership Experience.
After a long wait of nearly 12 years, we finally pick up our second car, MG Hector Savvy Pro.
Made the booking in late January, and got the allocation last day of February, however with further delay for registration, finally received it on 12th of March. Last few days felt akin to a ping pong match with the dealership.
To preface,
A lot seems to have changed over the years when you buy a car - customer is no longer the King, forget about discounts or freebies, with the advance bookings, you’re effectively paying to be in line with the others as you wait without so much as a protection from future price increments. That is, whatever you’ve budgeted towards your vehicle, best keep 1.5% +/- at the ready depending on your wait time. Now, I digress it’s not all bad. The vehicles have improved upon by a large factor, I’m still awed over the numerous tech that’s bundled in from much higher end vehicle as it’s trickled down into more affordable choices. Albeit some might still prefer buttons over ever increasing screens and their sizes. Coming from a humble Verna, the upgrades are bountiful.
Paid approximately 25.80L OTR Mumbai with Acko Insurance & Classic 3yr MG Maintenance. And, about 40k in add ons and accessories which include -
Hood Branding
Door Chrome Handle
Designer Cabin & Boot Mats
Mud Flaps
Screen Guard
Air Valve Caps
Rescue Me Tool
Teflon Coating
Antirust Coating
Silencer Coating
And the ones that added to the bill, as a rather impulsive buy after visiting the showroom and checking out on another display car.
Black Rims Paint
Red Callipers Paint
While MG Hector is by no means “sporty” and is always going to be a more luxury family cruiser for me.
It adds great looks to the mundane side profile of the Hector to something very pleasing to the eye, and satisfies a long held craving of my younger days yearning of such mods.
Overall my purchase from Krishiv Motors, MG Worli.
I’d say it was 4 out of 5 stars. As I rate about the 3 stages of dealership response.
1. GREAT while booking, with immediate WhatsApp Group made for future contacts & updates, overall tone is very rewarding.
2. GOOD while being in the waitlist up until allocations, this is where the promises kept start to dwindle and it’s your job to keep up on requesting for any updates whatsoever. Still fairly prompt, however I had to visit the showroom to get better clarity of updates in person.
3. OK once you’ve been allocated the vehicle, the first response is to lock in the payment at the earliest, I did that with the condition that vehicle be brought for PDI from Bhiwandi to Suburban Malad stockyard, however PDI did take another few days as communication kept dying in between. PDI done, and all perfectly set? Sorry. Registration aren’t happening, and expect delay with blame put on RTO for RDE vehicles, however this wait in between the communication is almost lacklustre - specially if you’re buying your own insurance and not from the dealers near price match insurer. (With Acko I was able to keep a high IDV, Dealers Kotak didn’t mention anything on IDV hence my hesitance)
That said, at the time of delivery the dealership response was quite nice with a small celebration & pooja at the dealership, and with SA explaining in details on all the features and technicalities of the car before we headed out.
Last Note - The rims seem to be the newer design.
