To each his own. I for one am happy to see the sizzling Red shade being offered on Jimny. Was so close to get the Ecosport home in similar Red before Ford decided to shut shop in India. Bolero Neo too comes in similar Red shade but does not have the automatic transmission. A Red Jimny may fill that spot in my garage some day.

I agree, I did the mistake of not doing it when I purchased my S-Cross. Thought I will change in 1-2 years and then I got used to the road noise the stock tyres made. Ended up living with those hard as rock JK Tyres for 50k kms.
I noticed the difference when I finally switched to MRF Perfinza, it was like Night and day.
So yes getting new tyres either right at the showroom (if that's possible) or driving directly to a tyre shop. Looking at options in 215/75/R15, hope they fit the stock alloys because I like the alloy design for a change. Looking at either BFGoodrich A/T or Yokohama Geolandar.

Even Grey was on my list but that colour is available on almost all vehicles - will check them both out physically and decide.

re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Booked the Alpha MT variant in Kinetic Yellow shade on the Pongal day, SOB is within 3k number (I hope it means not too much of waiting) Hoping for a TD by March end and the delivery by April. The sales rep at NEXA says TD by February end and delivery by March end (felt he is being over optimistic).

The paint options offered are pretty basic though. Personally love the black but they only have the Bluish black to offer. As someone who knows the daily owes of owning a black car made me look for other colors but nothing seems exciting. Wife and the little one says yellow. While I really liked the yellow color with dual tone, my only concern is that it will attract too many eyes (especially the psychos who scratches with their keys) and I can't imagine taking it to a function or some nice hotel.

The colour name Sizzling Red in the Jimny's brochure is also shared with 2022 Brezza and so I wonder if both are same. I like Ecosport's Red which is bright, deep and glossy. 2022 Brezza's s Sizzling Red is a dull red which to me lacks depth and gloss. I like 2022 Glanza's Sportin Red (have one) and Baleno Opulent Red which while not bright but is deep and glossy when kept clean. Suum cuique.

I booked pearl white since its a "safe" colour and most other colours don't seem to stay with me for long.

I wonder why Maruti had to add that horrible chrome on the grill in India version of Jimny.

+1. My First day mod will be upgrade tyres to either 235/75R15 Apollo Apterra AT2 or 215/75R15 Apollo Apterra AT2 (yes this is now launched) and dechrome that aweful grill. Better if I am able to source the “retro style” grill with italics Suzuki logo.

re: Maruti Jimny 4-door @ Auto Expo 2023

Hi,

I saw a couple of posts by people wishing to upgrade the tyres on the Jimny. In my opinion, the best upgrade would be 225/70R15.

Reason:
I once owned an MG410W. I tried out 235/75R15's one day, and guess what, I just fell for the looks and the significant increase in ground clearance. Unfortunately, the loss in torque was evident in the first drive itself. I just ignored that for a few weeks. But one day, my dad and I went to a relatives place we used to visit once in a while. The dirt road leading to that place was, in places, steep and slippery. We normally took those sections in 4Hi, but after the tyre upgrade, I had to shift to 4Lo and crawl up, or else, I'd have to slip the clutch a lot.

That was a long time back, it was a carburetted 1 Litre engine with 45bhp that was only available at high rpms and my heart took over my head. Three years later, I took the diameter back down to near stock size with the 225's and my jeep got her torque back.

The Jimny is definitely more powerful than what the Gypsy was...
...but still, my opinion is to either keep the tyre's outer diameter stock or, if money is not a constraint, get some gear reduction in that transfer case (and ger rid of that chain drive too while you're at it).

Thanks.

This seems to be the same unit (pre-production??) that we have already seen in a parking lot next to a red Swift. It's a ZETA (external feature-wise), with yellow roof (standard is Black roof). And there is no Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black option in ZETA variant.

The second photo is with a white Scorpio N on the other side of the road.

It's in GGN new sectors.

...or lack there of.

Gypsy has more presence, due to its height. Perhaps Maruti should have thought about giving the 5 door a slightly upward sloping rear roof like the classic defender instead of sticking with Gwagon inspired flat roof.

Sadly though - there aren't many options in that size.
You would have to stick with 215s or go with 235s.
