I agree that upshifting at 4800 odd rpms, one gets only 10-11 kmpl, but that is still so terrific, much better than the Fluidic Verna VTVT's I encounter at petrol bunks... they're like "15+ ? How's that even possible in Petrol, mine gives only 12 in city traffic without AC. 23 is a bit too much to believe. Should check over tankfulls only and not hypermiling highway runs.

Great mileage rambo101, that similar to what I get in my linea mjd. Recent highway drive of 310 km to & fro linea gave me 23kmpl with ac set at 24 degrees, driven at 100 kmph with occasional bursts of 140 oomph. In city getting 15 with 100%ac and 16.5 without ac these days Ac427, don't you think brio mileage is on the lower side? are you heavy footed? Is your brio with the new engine? ( honda now claims 19.4kmpl instead of earlier 18.2kmpl) I was contemplating on brio for my wife. your advise? Last edited by GTO : 2nd December 2012 at 16:53. To me, the Ertiga figures are optimistic. No offense. If it really delivers that much, wow, kudos to its light construction and weight, plus tuning. @Rufus: Buddy, if you compare say the Punto and Swift, the following are the reasons that favour the Swift for better FE. 1) Punto has a pure HPS system that saps engine power while the Swift has an EPS 2) Bad gear ratios for the Punto, especially within the city 3) Punto is much heavier and solid than any of the Suzukis out there 4) Wider tyres on the Punto Emotion when compared to the ZDi Last edited by DRIV3R : 1st December 2012 at 09:50.

| ![]() How Speed matters on the highway:- On my mumbai bangalore runs, keeping speeds 100+ (usually 110) I get an FE of about 22 KMPL. Last week did a Hampi visit NH 4 till Chitraduga and NH 13 to Hospet. Drove leisurely @70 - 80 KMPH and got a FE of 24 with about 50% AC |

That 23kmpl was achieved on a mostly uncrowded highway. Used only 4 and 5 gear all the way (70 km)with full ac and 5 people onboard. I have checked initially using tank full method and found out there is about 1kmpl difference between mid figures and tankful method. I can never get even 15 kmpl on the mid even if i try to drive like him :lol Well my uncle has the fluidic petrol verna too and it gives max 16 on highways and 9 to 10 in the crowded Goan towns and he too is a very sedate driver. Even the previous gen verna petrol, elantra... never used to give good mileage figures its mostly Hyundai's diesels and i10 that give very good figures. Update: yesterday was hectic, we had guest over so the city was used to do airport pickups and stuff. Covered 143km in a day!! Mid figure : 13.1 kmpl Car was driven a bit aggressive. | ![]() My 2010 i-vtec city returns fuel effieciency of 13-15 kmpl(50% AC) considering my daily drive is mostly stop and go, Ghaziabad(near anand vihar ISBT) -Chawri Bazar, this includes sprints to the redline every now and then. But on the open easy roads keeping it at a very sedate 60-75 Kmph it returns fantastic figures of 18-19 Kmpl in the city. All the figures have been calculated on a tank full to tank full basis. i found an average of 2% error in the onboard MID and speedo figures aswell. My 2004 model Santro Xing used to return a fuel efficiency of 16.7 Kmpl (without AC) when i used to commute from my place near Anand vihar ISBT(delhi) to Janakpuri (35 Km one way) though the commute was early morning 7ish and return used to be around 4pm during my college days. |

I'm a very sedate driver and I never cross 100 on the highways. Also in the city I never stomp on the pedal but wait patiently for the turbo to spool up.

| ![]() My 2 day old Renault Duster 85 PS RxL (O) reported mileage as per MID - 1. Bangalore City Daily office commute mileage 17.6kmpl, with AC On. 2. High way driving with 80kmph in 5th gear, along with sudden bursts to 100kmph, I got a mileage of 23.8kmpl as per MID. All this with AC in On position. I do not know if this is accurate for a brand new car. If it is true, I am sure I can get better mileage once engine beds in. Also note that I do not go above 2500 rpm and upshift at 2000 rpm. Front tyre at 30 psi and rear at 31 psi, though Renault recommends 29 psi for all tires. |
