Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

The car's looking really nice though the tyres seem to be well past their prime. I hope it fetches good price. Thanks for posting good quality pics fx45
BTW do disclose as to which classic made you sell this car.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Thanks
AFAIK, the tyres are slightly dirty which makes them look older than what they are.
Well, I am planning to buy a Merc W123, lets see how this goes.

I just finished reading "The Maruti Story" by R.C Bhargava and its just incredible how much of a change this car bought to the Indian Automobile Industry.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I am on the look out for a SS80. I have seen two cars some time back. The first one I came across was earlier with a driving school, as the sticker lettering had left its mark on the rear glass. That was a badly abused one without any originality and was with a scrap dealer. I was taken there by an amateur car broker. The guy was asking Rs 25K and asked me to offer a price. As it was not worth bargaining I left it at that pointand after a week yhe car was scrapped by him.
Subsequently saw a newspaper ad. Contacted and was near Kaduthuruthy in Kottayam district. The owner told me that he would bring the car to Thalayolaparambu in the evening where I waited for almost an hour. The car has broken down while he was on his way and finally I arranged a mechanic to set it right. Appearance itself was contradictory to what he has told over phone. It was a Trichur registered car and. I was not impressed at all. Even the rear bumper was of Type II M800.Asking price was 30K. He called me the next day also but I said a big Thank You to him.
Veterans I need your advice.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I saw some pictures of Finnish SS80 in the below mentioned site.
http://www.kolumbus.fi/~tpo00544/SuzukiAlto/Alto3/slides/DSCN4550.html

I noticed a major difference in the hatch door it is different than the Indian one; the glass is fixed on the door which opens fully. The FX model is similar to the Indian car. The glass alone opens. Steering and facia are also different. In beige.
