Finally found the filter element so now at last my air filter is fitted back in place!

Meanwhile here are some more SS80s in various conditions I've spotted around the city in the last 2 days! The Powder Blue one is unfortunately missing the front under-bumper panel!

You may be able to get an used one from the scrapyard.Getting an NOS boxed STANLEY sealed beam is possible ,but you have to locate it.
My friend had got a pair of boxed NOS STANLEY sealed beams made in JAPAN 4 years back for Rs.4000/-(pair)

I don't mind the used ones as long as both the points are working. However, NOS would be a better option any given day. Any idea or information as to how and where I can locate one?

If you want Genuine Stanley then you will have to try in Singapore or Malaysia, because there are a lot of eighties japanese cars there and Stanley sealed beams was OE on many such models.
You may be able to get KOITO or Wagener in INDIA itself.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

An ss80 for sale in Bangalore.

http://bangalore.olx.in/1985-red-suz...-iid-502256525
The ad says the car has factory fitted radio .But I think the original Clarion radio had only AM and no FM band.
The car does not have original wheel rims, seats, sealed beams etc..but the price is asking is what a concourse fully original maruti DX low mileage done car is worth

The ad says that it has a factory fitted AC and music system. A few lines later, it is written that the car has a Pioneer Music system with USB?
I am sure that even the Japanese were not so advanced in 1985 to use USBs in the ICE! Even Ajay says that the factory fitted ICE did not have FM capability. But the ad mentions that it plays FM.

However, by the pics, the car looks clean & well restored. Just a little hitch, to me it looks like the rear wheels are a bit more closer to the front side of the wheel arc/ well. Not in the centre.

As far as modern cars like SS80 are concerned it is ""TIME CAPSULE"" cars that have value not restored cars.to cite an example our fellowbhpians brown SS80 DX

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

One of my close friends had a red SS80. It didnot have an AC. We drove quite some miles during our teenage years in that car (our other mile munchers were my Fiat 1100D, later a Zen, and our other friend's '98 Maruti 800 ), hence have some sweet memories of the car. Still remember the 'unusual things' of the car, like the openable rear windshield, metal bumpers, ultra-low driving position, etc

He sold the car for a pittance 3-4 years ago, when he shifted to Siliguri
Price that he pays for not being a petrol head!

Regards,
Saket

Farewell!

With a rather heavy heart, I bid farewell today to my 'New Zealand Brown' 1985 SS80 standard, which served me very well since October 2009. Though she wasnt exactly concours nor pampered while I owned her, I must say to this date this was the most reliable car I've ever owned/used, one car I could count on any time to take me anywhere! That's SS80 quality for you!

However, I'm happy all the same to mention that she has gone to a good friend and fellow team bhpian at Hyderabad itself, who I can be assured will take good care of her! So do watch this space as you may get to see more of her!

There are lot of ss80 ads especially from Kerala and Bangalore quoting fancy prices for not so original examples. The above car ad states as original, but it is just a white lie as one can see from the photos!!

Hi Ajay

Unfortunately I don't seem to have any source in Singapore or Malaysia. Please let me know if you come across any stanley sealed beam in India itself. I would be interested as I am in urgent need.
