If Iam not wrong you did some mods on your wheels right, Is that the culprit?. I dont face any problems with Shocks. I drive on one of the worst roads in Chennai (I meant it).

Got back my car from third service & absolutely free of any rattling. Let me hope it does not surface again.

Also this central locking / power windows issues are fixed at the first shot itself & it neven happened again. I hope Maruti get it right in their first attempt & this doesnt resurface for any of Swift owners.

When I read that these problems were reported by OD, my first reaction was here comes another biased report but looks like OD was right as many owners are reporting the same problems. It's obvious from now that build quality is inconsistant and even some electricals are problem areas.

I don't agree with the rattling part. My Palio was driven for almost 1.5 yrs and 25,000kms and it still had no rattles from anywhere. And Fiat is blamed for inconsistant quality and niggling problems!

Isn't it ironic that Swift sales are still high even after so many niggling problems? It will be interesting to see how Swift performs in the J.D.Power survey's.

Usually cars will have issues during the 1st year of production. A lot of people wait for a while before buying an all new car. Notice how the engine is trouble free since its a carryover from teh Esteem.

21000 bookings in the first month of launch.
What do u expect?? Logically, there would be quality issues for Maruti ,just to make Supply = demand.

If they had been quality conscious, they would have lost atleast 5000 bookings to the Getz.

Now, atleast the customers are with them and just have few fixable rattles/niggles. No big deal!!

I THINK UR right actually they should have taken care of such little tings if they want the car to do good in the long run but nowdays everybody wants to earn actually there should a certain levels of standerds set for the car production i mean there should be some checkings on the manufacturer and the product quality on a large scale and there should be some awakening in the people who want to buy cars for a long run should check on that basis and lastly people should visit our forums if they want a piece of advice wat say guys i think a lot of people get bennifted with the help of or site that makes me say.......

Done close to 6K in my Swift Vxi. No problems so far with rattling of any sort.

Power Windows - No problems
Central Locking - No problems
Horn - Minor issue, fixed by Vitesse.
Minor scratches & dents - Fixed. Awesome job by Vitesse.
Gear Shift - Minor issue with 1st and reverse gear [stubborn sometimes]. Fixed during last service.

Current Problems: Front Left speaker has gone mute. Gotta check it out.

Other than these, the car has been completely error and rattle free.

Cheers
Harish

well first, the rattles do exist. but i'm a little finicky, and i find rattles in the oddest of places. like RX pointed out, rattles exist in almost every car. you might not feel them as a passenger, but as a driver, you tend to notice those li'l squeaks; you might find this odd, but i found the doors of a brand new RS squeaking...and another 1.9 tdi too. heck, the only (new) car that i couldn't find any rattles on was the endeavour. rest all, from the lancer to the octy to the accent, i have found minor squeaks and rattles....but then, these things vary from car to car.

as for the swift, well, yes, there ARE minor squeaks, from my 4800 km old ZXi. no mechanical or component reliability issues. the car behaves like a sportster, and that sweet chassis is a dream to handle-can get a little finicky over high-speed mid-corner bumps, though. over my usual usage, which mostly covers bad roads or highways, the car has aged fine (except for the rattles, though). no complaints regarding the performance either. it's not QUICK, per se, but fast enough. manages 160+ on normal stretches, and i see the 180 mark quite often. winds affect the speeds drastically though; which reminds me- the wind noise over 140-160 kmph seems quite high, even though the cabin seems to be well-insulated.

all in all, the swift has been a very nice set of wheels for me. just wish the build quality was better, though. and that 1.6 twin cam from the expo...

180 on a Swift ? WOW. Do you have some mods on your car? I have a Vxi, I hardly go above 120 - the noise is just booming. Maybe I'm just inexperienced, but I find the noise too loud for my liking.

Coming back on topic, my troubles were limited to an incessant squeak from the rear seat, which was fixed in 1st service. There are a few more noises, but I put them down to the lousy roads of Chennai.

Seems like rattles are common on brand new Swifts. I don't expect a brand new car develop rattles till it completes 20k on odo. It is definetly bad quality check of Maruti.
