Gosh, have been clued out for some time and all this activity with the new City. Last I remember the spy pics which IMHO were no looking very contemporary or exciting. But now its looks nice, well proportioned and like a proper saloon, not like the 'compromise' design NHC looked. Thanks god the NHC is gone. This is a step up from that design wise and perhaps the best choice at its price point.

Interesting, check this vid at 2.57 and 3.08. The grill of the city and the back lights look quite different and dishy, infact imho much sleeker than the production version.

Any ideas on which this particular version of the all the City's displayed looks different?

Thats Modulo. Modified version similar to TRD for Toyota. This has been already discussed earlier in the thread..

Just saw the Car & Bike show. The should have provided more vivid color IMHO.

They sure copied the Beemers rear and no one seems to point finger at them regarding copying design.

The anchor of C&B show mentioned about it and went on to say something like 'Honda does take inspiration from BMW from time to time'.

I saw similar speculation comparing it to a 3 series but its not cut and dry. If you see the new Accord, Honda is getting pretty aggressive with the designs, lots of lines and character on that and this design follows on that. The new City is in your face and brash.

Here are 2 pics of the BMW 3 series and all new City side by side:

I can't get this clarification anywhere. Does the G3NHC have essentially the same engine as the NHC VTEC? And is the only difference that the G3 has a different type of Vtec operation? If so why are we getting so excited about it?

Err...seems like you havent followed much about the ANHC. Just for your clarification :

NHC VTEC : had 100 BHP VTEC engine

ANHC : has VTEC standard in full range and a 1.5 VTEC 118 ps engine

Main reason most of us are excited is : VTEC standard in all models, airbags & ABS standard in all models. Better looks . Also this could be a proper replacement for a OHC owner. Unlike the NHC.

Raul, these pics give nice comparision. They are close enough, of course not exactly identical. The main difference being the tail lamp cluster crosses on to the boot lid in case of BMW 3 series, where as in case of ANHC it dosent, there by reducing the complexity and reducing cost, but also resulting in a unconventional and somewhat awkward lid opening.
Such things can be termed as 'taking inspiration' if not 'copying'

What is even more funny is even the sales guy at the dealer mentioned it as one of the positives of ANHC. "The rear is just like BMW 3 series sir"

Seeing the pictures, it appears even the side profile has been inspired

Well the engine block is the same, but the VTEC has been replaced with a more advanced iVTEC, which takes into account a larger no. of performance parameters before switching cam profiles. As for the excitement, the power is up from 77ps on the iDSI to 118 ps and the car is even cheaper than the old VTECplus, with much better looks.

Haha. I happened to see the show today. And it actually turned out the same.
