Driving the Swift for 2 months now. Got the tyres changed the very first day to Bridgestone Potenza GIII.... so cant comment!
Rest I love the car, it drives great. The Getz feels out of breadth when accelerating not with Swift. Only dissapointment so far is the rear seat making creaking noises

hey aseem, it's alright praising your Swift, but why dragging the poor Getz down. I've driven my 3500 KM old Getz on the Delhi-Amritsar highway upto 150-155 KMPH, accelaration was more than adequate. I admit I have not driven Swift much, but in my short expereince I didn't find it's accelaration very diff from Getz.

Now people please dont start a thread which car is faster Swift or Getz just like Baleno or Vtec! It will lead to no conclusion! Both cars are good in the right but the swift is the vtec here i.e faster

only in the zxi- the tyres are 185/70 R14 on alloys, whereas the spare's 165/80 R14 on steel rims....on the vxi and lxi, all 5 are of same size; 165/80 R14 on steel discs....now, maruti puts it as "the international way", where even mercs have spares of different profiles on steel discs (which's true, since the original tyres are too big to be accomodated in the spare well in the boot; same case with all the sports cars, etc.), so that in case of a flat, you bolt on the spare to serve only the purpose that it was intended for, and "remember" to replace the original a.s.a.p...

but pray tell, the swift doesn't have big alloys or a shallow spare well in the boot; looking at the spare well, it can safely accomodate 195/60 R15's (which, by the way, is the hottest and maximum possible tyre upgrade for the swift without fouling up it's wheel wells). maruti is just offering another damn excuse, that actually says "sorry sir, we are on a rope-walk; if you wanna have a propah spare, shell out 5 G's please..."

veyron1 - I have a ZXI, and the spare tyre is identical to the others - all are 185/70 R14 on alloys...not sure what you mean?

I have read and heard many Swift owners complain of rattling from the body. Is this true. It is really dissapointing to know that such a nice car but such a problem. Only if Maruti fix this then the Swift will be by far the best, but hey it already is, so whos complaning.

Swift doesnt need this hype. What is this hype for?

Its unique innovative design - Well its copied from Mini Cooper

Performance - Its slightly better but cant be considered way above Getz in real world driving.

Ride Comfort - It's proven from most people that Getz has a better ride comfort

Fuel Efficiency - Almost same, but Swift my be slightly better. Actually depends on the driving habits and proper maintenance.

Space - Getz knocks out Swift.

For single users, Swift can be a good choice. If you have more than 2 persons just go for the Getz.

@ adarsh76

here is a true hyundai fan speaking. anyways i dont agree with you on ride comformt , or should I say drive comfort which is better in the swift. anyways this is a personal opinion so one should dirve it and decide it.

and dont talk about copying when supporting hyundai so much dude, we all know the orginality of hyundai designs.

I would like to bring forth the fact that the swift is no doubt a vehicle with good engine acceleration ratios and a good power steering (which sometimes acts funny), but if you look at the overall built quality it lacks the touch of perfection that a Hyundai Getz has.
For e.g. look at the door trim shoulders on which the power window buttons are fixed, they look so flimsy and you can almost peel the cover of that trim shoulder to expose what’s inside. When i questioned about this to the dealer, he said it has been abused since that was a demo car, so i took him to a brand new swift which was to be delivered that afternoon, same condition there, then upon looking at every car I found the same condition of the arm rest / trim shoulder. The dealer was fuming with anger when i should this to some of his customers who were taking their delivery.

Secondly try sitting in the rear seat and you will come to know how unfit the swift is ergonomically. When seated in the rear put your arm on the armrest / doors trim shoulder and try to work on the power window button. You will find that the power window button is placed way behind, which can only be activated if you lift your arm from the arm rest and move it behind and lean a little sideways or else you have to do that with your other free hand.

This second flaw in the design got me irritated and I started looking for some more flaws.
Surprisingly I found the overall fit and finish of the sheet metal; I mean the styling to be full of flaws. I mean nothing was maintaining a single uniform distance. If you look at the behind the distance of the gaps between the tailgate and the C pillar is much smaller and the gaps between the taillight and the tailgate (exactly where the Suzuki logo is affixed) is too wide.

There are many more things to notice but I don’t think a single dealer is going to give me a demo ride of his swift.

PROS: - Good Engine (sometimes underpowered with 5 people)
CONS: - poor build quality, no touch of perfection. Interiors is sluggish and dull, rear seats are bench type, which in the European model are 60:40 which can be used quite decently when compared to its tiny boot.

My verdict :- Go for the lxi and put your add-ons. I mean the power windows / arm rests / alloys.

Please do visit the maruti showrooms and try to see all these flaws and then decide upon which vehicle to buy.

Awaiting your reviews after your visits and demo rides :

Not surprising !!

Bcoz Japanese car manufacturers are renowned only for their good engines and nothing else ... look at Honda / Toyota / Maruti.

Swift does not deserve the hype whats been created from last 1 year.

Since MUL has excellant and best in class marketing strategy in Indian automobile history and Swift has great unique looks, thats why its big time success since its launch, If someone thinks practicality Swift scores less points compared with even Santro, since Swift is 50K costlier than Santro and Swift has too many minor issues, so it can't be called premium hatchback, its one crazy looking car.

But again its my personal feedback, Indian mentality is so that they go by looks and good / big names when some one study past history.

According me by 2010 MUL market share will come to half of whats % now. Fiat/TATA, Toyota, Honda wil be big time gainers if they launch new products in timely manner and price their cars competatively.

Regards,

Ravi.

Well Swift doesn't deserve the hype to some extent, but with Maruti releasing the Swift, we've got all the other companies running around trying to do something better, well that means Indian car lovers stand to gain by this more than ever.

Swift has got its problems, I am sure most of the problems will be resolved soon. I am extremely happy with my Swift no two ways about it.
