Looks promising. I wish someone would come up with a decent option in the sub-8lac range to the Dezire!

They are usually wrong with the specs.
Look at this link - the 1.6 L engine in Polo generates 153nm of torque. Most likely that these numbers wont be tampered with in the case of the Vento

The Vento is very very promising and a great looking car. I'm planning to buy a sedan soon and was looking Linea-wards but then finally I've decided to wait for the Vento's launch.

I dont think 255NM is possible on a Inline 4 1.6 Petrol engine.

Might be some typo mistake.

it was probably a typo in the newspaper. the 1.6 engine produces 153nm of torque as stated above.

So finally is it Polo 1.6 or the Vento which is being launched?
(Or Both!)

This article also says, tomorrow the car launches, strange as VW was saying August! Bookings maybe accepted a month later, i guess the first one on the roads will be nothing prior to September/Oct

The 255nm torque figure definitely belongs to the Diesel version. The 1.8TSi seen in Superb, Laura and Passat makes 250nm, a naturally aspirated 1.6 MPFI engine is surely won't deliver this kind of torque.

The diesel with this Verna kind of Torque and Power will be a hit with enthusiasts. I have driven the Polo, it has a very well sorted Ride and Handling balance(Though the EPS feels dead and Overlight), the Vento with the same platform and carried over suspension components is expected to be the best diesel Driver's car. The other Diesel cars in the segment which have good dynamics are Linea and Fiesta, both these cars disappoint when asked to perform.

Sources tell me that the Linea T-Jet is gonna be an answer to all our needs of a perfect petrol sedan.
The power would be in excess of 112 bhp & torque will be miles ahead of any car in that class & would have better FE than the current 1.4.

All that, with the existing goodies Linea is packed with....it would out perform the City in every department (except brand value & A**) - VW better watchout.
Fiat is working hard to sort out A** issues, hope things turn out better.

^^ It remains to be seen what kind of on road performance Linea T-Jet offers. The figure of 112bhp looks very good in paper specs, The T-Jet with the existing gearbox and ratios might not be able to match the ANHC for performance. Lets wait for both Vento and Linea T-Jet to released to seek answers for our performance queries.
