Ugh.... the interiors still look really bad.
2 major changes I really hope they make are
1) Place the Speedo and Tacho in front of the driver, I hate the central placement.
2) The central AC vents.
The Etios interiors seem to sacrifice a lot of practicality and utility in the name of......well I really don't know why they've chosen such horrible placements.

To be honest apart form the centre instrument console I like the interiors of etios.
I have seen the the etios sedan closely from outside, but haven't got a chance to see the interiors in the test mules driven around Bangalore.
Etios with the 1.4 D-4D engine will find many buyers.

+1 to above.

Central Placement of console and the colour combination, makes it look like a cheap chinese toy car. Hope Toyota does not experiment too much with its first mid segment car. It safer to be traditional.

Even on the xterior front Etios totally ignores any/all sensible design cues prevalent/liked in the current generation cars. IMO, Its a Logan mashup on the outside.

Now, unless its a car in 6lac bracket then anything can be justified, so lets wait on the pricing front... 28 days to go!!

key highlights etios sedan (information is subject to change):
  • 1.5 petrol 16V SOHC with 95 PS
  • 4 variants
  • 7 colours
  • ABS and dual airbags standard on all but base (optional on base)
  • base model will only have AC and NO PS.
  • top model will have all the typical bells and whistles but no alloys or ACC.
  • mid level models will be a tossup between equipment levels, second model will have PS,CL and front PW, one above it will get a stereo and rear PW.
  • How about 4.5L ex showroom starting price est?

Thats absolutely brilliant. The best apart of it is the optional ABS and Airbags even on the base model. This is what the Indian Market was missing, options for safety on the base model.

The estimated price is sweet, hope it stays the same for the launch.

That's unbelievable, and I really hope the specs are true. 1.5 L 95 PS seems awesome for a car in this segment. Plus, I'm sure Toyota would have done whatever possible to maximize the F.E of the car. I wouldn't be surprised if it equals/exceeds ANHC in that aspect.

If Toyota prices this car aggressively, it could be a game changer for sure. The base model could even cannibalize several hatchbacks. Can't wait for more official news!

Toyota is going all out to make the Etios a grand success, I think Toyota want to tap the lower end of the market by creating a lower entry point and giving a wider trim level choices.

Entry price point of 4.5 L will definitely shake up the market. A low entry prices will attract the taxi segment which can create an image problem, hope Toyota will manage it.

I do not see the clutch pedal? And I do not see a dead pedal. And how am I supposed to open the front console in the dashboard?

The starting price even if 'subject to change' looks good for a start, and also appreciate the presence of standard airbags/ABS and optional even in the bas version!!!
But don't quite get why something like the P/S is left in the base version.?

It is very nice to read but hard to believe that Toyota would be doing this, they do not offer ABS and airbags standard even on the Innova and Corolla which cost more than twice this car.

Probably by the time they launch this, this will get watered down to the top variants alone sporting this as standard.

Midsize sedan with no PS. Interesting? Toyota going after Accent, Ikon and Lancer market at that price range?

+1. I guess it is time for all the Auto Manufacturers to start following the Toyota way and offer ABS and Airbags across all variants atleast as an option.
But I do hope PS is also available as option in the base model.

Since we don't have any info on turning radius of the car, I will abstain from commenting on the sales of the base model due to the lack of PS.

But I would say it is a good move by Toyota.

Thanks much Sid!

With the specs of the Etios Sedan, one should be aware that the car would be pretty light compared to competitors ensuring acceptable performance if not great and very good FE.

However, the starter price of 4.5 Lakhs seems to be too low, I would expect it to be at least one lakh higher. Which will make the hatch pricing very very interesting.
