Binz, thnks for the clarification never thought of uncovering the parcel tray to have a look.

when I enquired with the sale executive, abt the invisible rear speakers he mentioned they are in the boot ... lifted the boot and the speakers were attached to the parcel tray... well, I expected speakers to be placed in their own housing ( or whatever u call em ).. and was surprised to see em bare ..... guess the experts can comment on the audio quality or otherwise.

Baleno always had rear speakers in the boot as far as I remember...there is space for 6 inch round speakers to be fitted without modification....
Of course..the sound quality left at bit (bit only not more ) to be desired...so I took out the rear speakersout of the boot, got a gas cutter to cut a slot in the rear stel tray for 6*9 speakers....and now they are on top of the tray :-)...

But believe me...the sound quality is very decent even is they are in the boot...they do not come with a housing...but my suggestion would be not to bother...a housing will reduce your boot stpace and flexibility further

Speakers on the rear tray are always placed exactly like this: A hole is cut in the tray, and the speakers mounted with the bottoms protruding into the boot space. The entire boot acts like an infinite baffle (a speaker box) and you get terrific sound, esp. bass.

The Vxi has a metal tray, and 6 inch rounds are pre-cut. If you want to fit ovals, you will have to cut bigger holes accordingly, but since this involves removal and re-fitting of the tray, you may have to live with rattles thereafter.

IMHO the existing speakers are pretty good, I had oval Pio speakers fitted in my Ford Escort, and while the sound was outstanding, I listened to a rattle for the next five years - always drove with the music on as a result!

MUL has finally released an ad for the 'new' Baleno in todays TOI ...

However, they have thankfully refrained from badging it as the 'new' Baleno .. in fact they haven't hinted at it being a new version anywhere. Just mentioned matter of factly that it has climate control , new alloys and mp3 player.

The latest branding too is probably right for the Baleno ..
The new catchline is .. Owners choice.

They have accepted that the car lacks image and pose-value .. hence they are positioning it as the car of choice for people who don't care much for those factors ...

A 'rally sport' version of the Baleno, maybe with a 1.8 heart, would do well. With propah war-paint and stuff. The Baleno has been doing decently in motorsport - they should exploit that.

Has the pricing of the car been tampered with?

VXi prices had been hiked by 12000/- .. but that was in October.
LXi prices remain the same.

A Question.
Does the VXi come with the Fog lamps as standard accessory ?

well, apparently, maruti doesn't make these in india and so, has to source them from outside. hence, the price. you can probably go in for hella fogs, which i believe are cheaper.
