Re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

From this article, it sounds like this move is all about the "brand". The decision looks more and more like Nicole's than Lewis.

since when is Andy Murray a brand?

Re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

The opinion of former drivers is that Lewis is moving from school to college - http://en.espnf1.com/mclaren/motorsp...ory/90276.html

I wonder if the attitude of McLaren is not adversely affecting Jenson. If yes, we may soon see his exit as well.

Bottom line remains same.

Lewis will struggle through 2013 in a mediocre car, Come 2014 and new engines and new designs, another 3 years gone down the drain in developing the car. So its a TATA for his WDC title hopes for some more time

Bernie wants 2014 engine regulations scrapped and has support of FOPA. If it is really scrapped, Lewis/Mercedes plans for 2014 and beyond will go for a toss.

Re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

So, Eddie Jordan was right after all.

If all goes well, this will be the start of something big. I can't help but notice the similarities between this and Brawn building the Ferrari camp in the late 90s. Don't know how far Lewis can help develop a car. Maybe that's the challenge that he is looking for.

Also, brand Lewis is set to explode. At McLaren, outside the car, Lewis was in shackles. Now, Simon Fuller can make him even bigger. I just hope Lewis doesn't lose any of his speed with all the antics off track.

Sorry to hear about Michael. I think he is in the best shape ever since the comeback. Read he kept Mercedes waiting for just too long and they turned elsewhere. Hope he gets a drive for next year.

Mercedes had a plan B, just in case Lewis plan did not click. Perez was their pick. http://bit.ly/QmxbbG

Very interesting insight in Lewis decision by the man himself. My respect for him grew even more after this.

Very true. My respect for him grew 2 fold. The statement that he wants to be known like Schumacher (as mentioned in the last paragraph in the article) speaks of the man. Not many have the guts to express themselves like this. I really wish he takes Mercedes to the top the same way Schumi did with Ferrari.

Re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

A drastic change in Lewis's statements. He had said that he can easily overtake Schumi's achievements, just a few seasons ago. May be having professionals manage the career brings out good sense. Anyway, wish him all the best. The sport needs highly competitive cars and drivers to keep the interest going.

Re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

Talk is cheap. Besides what else would he say? That he moved for money and brand value? or that Nicole wanted me to move?

Personally, I don't believe him but if he can manage to turn around the team then opinions might change. Though if Merc produces a fast 2013 car, that won't be because of Lewis doing a Michael.

Sorry, but what's so cheap in his talk? He was respectful of his current team, and he is not the first person to move away from a top team. Infact I am happy that he showed the courage to move out of the comfort zone.

Dude! Isn't it an idiom? If not those exact words, then something similar?

People will never credit him.

If he negotiated for money, then his girlfriend asked him to.
If he left the team he grew up with, he's a backstabber.
If he wants to sign more deals, its Nicole's doing.
If he stays quiet, he's ashamed, or wants more money.
If He speaks, he's inflating things.

If he does well, and Nico doesn't, people will say the team is favouring him.

If both do well, then its not him, its Mercedes who gave a good car.

I just feel he gave more than enough in the team, and if he wants more deals, more money, more involvement in the development, more recognition, then he has more than earned the right to strike out for that. Whether he's able to achieve it is an altogether different matter.

Its not as if its only the car that can be credited. Remember kovaleinen making a hash of things?

I hope he does well, but not well enough to get by either of the silver arrows.

Very well said Mayank! Never been a fan of Lewis, but I must say that he has conducted very well this season, and I hope the new challenge works well for him.
