re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

Just read Martin Whimarsh's interview on LH's future..it is very apparent that the team feel they need to do a lot to keep Lewis from losing his focus. They still treat him like a bit of a kid.

And lets face it, Lewis is very immature and does not always think before he acts.

His management company should not be solely aiming at making him a global brand, but just the best racing driver he can be.

I think this is why they are not able to agree and close this.

Vettel and Alonso just have people behind the scenes to iron out the details and do most of the negotiating themselves.

I would compare Lewis to Cristiano Ronaldo (loud/loves the glamour) and FA/SV to Messi (quietly goes about business at hand)

If this becomes true, another reason would be the pay cut Lewis has been asked to take if he wants to remain in McLaren next year. And yes, I would love to see Kimi back to McLaren: the spiritual home of the fast Finns.

I saw Ron' interview with Sky Sports just after the race at Monza. He didn't give out anything and said if he says something, that will compromise the position of Whitmarsh and the McLaren board. He said Lewis' request for the trophy is a non issue.

I still don't think Lewis will ditch McLaren for a Mercedes. Maybe camp Lewis is just holding out for more from McLaren. But strange things happen in sports nowadays.

More confirmed news coming in

Now I see the reason why Ron Dennis was mighty pissed when Hamilton won in Monza. I dont think he is going to let that No.1 go to another team!

I too agree with you on this, Mclaren will not let their No.1 driver go, also Mercedes might not want to let go of Michael Schumacher this year as his form has been better when compared to Young Nico Roseberg.

Looks like Lewis is going. Even if he is going to remain at McLaren, it will be a one year deal only, I think.

Ross Brawn's comment on 2014 works engine deal might be a giveaway:

The problem now is that McLaren is interested in Kimi and he is bound by the contract at Lotus..Painful times for Mr.Whitmarsh.

I think Lewis is chewing more than what he can eat.

I am shattered. :(
Wonder what is the expectation here, pull a Rossi?
I think they will try and pull in Perez, and go number one on button. I'm still hoping this move doesn't pan out, and that too from Lewis's end.

And Jense is doing the PR for DiResta quietly (they are managed by the same guy and Anthony Hamilton is not in PDR's radar anymore )

http://www.planetf1.com/driver/3213/...-to-his-stable

If PDR joins McLaren, it opens the driver market for Force India as well. Will they go for a pay driver this time considering the economic climate there ??

2013 does not look good for McLaren until they produce something magical. Given the times ( and also Pirelli ), it doesn't look possible.

True, Richard was reported to be have had talks with the Mclaren bosses. And... all of the share holders of Mclaren from the gulf land along with Ron Dennis were there at Monza for talks.

re: Lewis moving to Mercedes next Year. EDIT : Confirmed!

It seems it is only financial. For Mclaren their budget would need to increase as they are already paying extra for Mercedes engines next year. For Lewis, he feels he's worth more than the current GBP 15 million he receives, which he is in all fairness due to his 'marketable value'.

Mclaren know that they ultimately HAVE TO sign him, there is no one free who can replace him without being a compromise in skill and sponsor value.

I wonder how much XIX have demanded, could it be as much as GBP 25-30 million?

So, the paddock hearsay is getting stronger by the day.

I sincerely hope Merc can give Lewis a car capable to fight for race wins. I really don't wish to see him wasted as an also ran.

But this will be a major coup for Mercedes. It will help to keep the Euro flowing from Deutschland.

And where does it all leave Michael? For the sake of helmet colour, I hope Merc GP boot Nico out.
