Yup. Its near confirmed. Lewis to drive for Mercedes in 2013. Perez to replace him at McLaren.

Heard on the radio this morning that it's going to be a shift to Mercedes. We'll wait until its official announced.

May be a smart move when the 2014 regulation changes kick in.

So, Sauber's doors are open if Schumi wishes to continue beyond 2012.

Considering Mercedes's focus on 2014, Lewis may end up being a back marker in 2013. it will be interesting to see how he handles that frustration.

I wish Ferrari gives him a chance. I want to see Alonso & MS fight it out, and see who's reputation is dented. Highly unlikely though.

I want him (& Vettel) to be in a situation where they just drive around hoping to get in points or an odd podium. That will show what kind of maturity he has.

I first thought that came to my mind after the confirmation was that of Senna moving to Williams from McLaren.

In the hindsight, I've read numerous reports about Ron; no driver in the past has been happy with him

That too without DDRS next season. It has been axed from next year as per new regulation for 2013

This will be good news for Alonso and Kimi

There is no doubt, lot of developmental work on the Mercedes car is done by Schumi over the last 3 years, but it has not turned the Mercedes Car around to be a Race winner, and also considering the fact the new regulations for 2013, i dont see Hamilton winning a WDC in the near future with Mercedes AMG team.

That leaves to Schumi now What about him.... Cant Ferrari replace the sloppy Massa to yet in form Schumi ...?

Same here. After 6 seasons. But Williams was a winner in those days. Lewis is leaps and bounds better than JV though.

I think it's a good move for Lewis. It was just not working well for him this year, and the extra moolah just turned the table. Perhaps a change in scenery would be good for him.
As rightly pointed out, he's most probably sacrificed 2013 for a possible 2014 WDC shot. Mercedes are expected to be a front runner with the new engines.

But what really intrigues me now, is Kimi in 2014. Dare I say, Kimi and Perez as a team for McL, now that'd be a fast one!

That too, last time Schumi retired with tiredness and lack of motivation. But now he is a racer boy, highly motivated and enjoying his drive to the fullest. He is not winning because he don't have a car to do so. I don't think he will move to Ferrari. But very sad to see him loosing his seat like this
