When the hot and humid air outside comes in contact with that part of the windshield or any glass which is getting cooled by direct air flow towards it will cause condensation and that is the fogging that happens. Very important - In dark hours, start the AC after you guys are all inside with doors closed and windows shut only. Do not open doors or roll down windows after that when the AC is running, even for a short while. Switch off the AC before you open anything and switch it back on only after everything is shut back. Even if for a very short duration to pay tolls or whatever, observe this precaution at night time and see the difference. Try this out. Opening and closing doors/windows when the cabin is cold during dark hours and see for yourself how fast fogging happens and try it out with the precaution I just mentioned. You will see the difference yourself.
I definitely noticed a few points that you had mentioned. Specially during the toll gates. Thanks a ton for the advice. Will try it out. At the moment i have a glass cleaning pad, keeping that handy but it is not at all feasible. Shall try overriding the auto mode like you did.

The cleaning pad is a solution after fogging happens right. After all the precautions mentioned earlier, you might still get fogging especially during long journeys. A better solution than the wiping pad (for the front windscreen) would be to put the AC temp. set to full hot (Red) and switching ON front windshield defogger. Basically all the hot air being directed to the windshield. Run it for sometime so that the glass is heated back to ambient temp. outside. It takes a little while and could start to get a little uncomfortable in the cabin but once you do this, fogging wont happen for long especially if you follow the precautions. Works much better than wiping.

Absolutely! will do. Acha anything on the heated ORVMS? I fail to understand how they work. I didn't notice any result after turning the know to heating position.

About the heated ORVMs, they take a while to clear off the fogging but works good. When you turn it ON, you might find there is not much change but give it time and it is effective. In my area, hardly seen fogging on them and din't have to use the heating. This must be useful in colder climates. I have used them only a couple of times when driving to such places.

During rains, i found them really useful to clear off the water. But they took their own sweet time. But the fogging gets cleared quickly. So may be their setup is such.

As far as I know the heated mirrors only work below 20 degrees. There is a way to change this in VCDS, but I don't know how.

Definitely would take a long time to clear water. I think its basic function is to defog rather than dry up water. But if you leave it ON for a longer time, even water dries up, that's all.

Quite possible. But these parameters (default setting) are variable I think depending on models, countries, batches, etc. Like when I installed AFS headlamps on Yeti, was expecting the dynamic function only above 40~50 Km/hr but by default it functions at much lower speeds though on Lauras retrofitted with AFS, I have seen it function at higher speeds only. VCDS should have the option to set these parameters.

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

Coming again with another sad update where we had to go through a very expensive Proposal last week.

Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!-img_4783.jpg

This happened on a Sunday evening. ( I believe so). All of us were off on the Sunday morning for a small family gathering. So we decided to cover the car and leave for the day.( may be my dad already knew that the kids in our colony were culprits). We had a great time, Sunday passed on. Moving onto to Monday, again a busy day. Dad had a car escorting him for a meeting. I for once decided to ride on my R15 and mom also left to a workshop on the very same day. Tuesday morning dad decides to take out the Jet, and while uncovering the car to his shock he has seen the above on the hood. When he tells me the same, i was under the impression that it might have been a small scar. My BP bulb burst on seeing this.

Some disgusting imbecile( a kid in this case) has scratched the hood of the car. This was done when none of us were at home. I am ashamed to say that this happened right in the colony where i stay.( So called gated community) He was very clever and tactful in what he had done. He/They(kids) managed to scar the car right in the center of the bonnet. Now what shook us all was that

1. The car was covered when we left. They had managed to tear the car cover as well.

2. Our community is guarded by over 10 guards. Out of which no even a single guy could see this happening.

This incident really left a scar for us. Such incidents are really not acceptable from the society. I wonder why kids turn into such idiots. This definitely was done on purpose. They wanted to humiliate us and hence the 'I LUV U' scarring on the hood. I forgot to mention that they did scratch the alloys as well. White scars on both the left side alloys.

When the car is covered. No one will be seen from the rear window. So they sat comfortably in front of the car and scarred with their cycle keys. We are yet to find out which kid might have done this. Practically, we cant blame anybody without proper proof. I don't think we can catch hold of the culprit given the circumstances. All i can see as a possible solution is to install cctv cameras. Gated communities are safe, secure from the goons in the outside world. But which community would catch the ones inside.

Sad to see her vandalized Amar. There's next to no chance of catching the guys that did this, but like you said do install a CCTV near the car, if anyone dares do it again you can rain hellfire upon them. Pay the guards a little extra too, maybe they'll pay extra attention to the Jet.

Hope to see it back to full glory sometime soon.

Very sad to see this. I had my car vandalized in a similar manner, not just on the bonnet, but on the driver's door and the tailgate too!

The good news is that except for the "I", the other scratches don't look that deep and can be rubbed away with a good rubbing compound. I highly recommend trying out the ultimate compound from Meguiars, which helped me get rid of about 80% of the scratches.

Its hard to believe that kids that done this. That's the sad part here. Left the car at VW today for a re-paint and the 1st free check up. CCTV camera's are being installed as we speak. Four cameras covering the entire park and servant area.

The guards are paid quite well. Sunday along with the kids( 3 names have come out) these people are going to get a good session. We plan to talk to their parents and address this issue. Such mentality is not good for them. It's parents who need to bend their psychopathic itch in them.

Nai yaar, the picture somehow hides the depth of the scratch i guess. The key point to buffing out these scratches is that out finger nail should not sit in them. Unfortunately in this case, a re-paint is a must ( finger nails fit into all three scratches) Also u forgot to post few other places that have been marred ( small scars here and there ) and the primer white coat is visible. So dropped the car today for a re-paint.

That's great! Kinda like Z+ security for your car.

Could you please share pics of motion detectors and where have you placed them?
