After a long wait, finally got the carbon fiber wraps done for the window lining.

A big shout out to Mr. Vijay from 3M, he has done an excellent job. I plan to get the ORVM's wrapped in Gloss black. The stock shall be coming next month.

Looking good. I think the same treatment will look good on the ORVMs as well.

Thinking of gloss black on the ORVM. The B pillar and the front grill are both gloss black. I feel gloss black on the ORVMs would compliment better.

Nicely done amar!
Did they have to take out all the rubber beading to get this finish?

Hey!

Thank you, I myself am really impressed with the work done.
No they did not remove the beading. That is not recommended as it may cause additional problem and squeaks.

There were two quotes 10k and 2k, I opted for the 2k one. 10k wrap includes a single seamless wrap without any cuts or deviation in the pattern.

The 2k model has a slight difference in the pattern ( they matched it perfectly despite their precaution )

The gloss black wrap that I will soon post, they quoted 3500 for that

Hejsan!

Looks like my last update was in Ice-age!

It's been a memorable year with the Jet. No sunrises or quirks encountered so far. Hope this continues till the end. The insurance was up for renewal and we had chosen the "HDFC ergo Zero Dep". We had to pay around 42k for the same.

Also opted for the EW and bought home a piece of mind. The price quoted for EW was 45k (with ST)

Also its time for the first year service. Need to schedule an appointment soon. I would appreciate any precautions or suggestions from the fellow Jetta owners.

Don't do anything non-essential. I got taken for a bit of a ride and although it only cost me a few thousands more, it's still my hard-earned money that went up in smoke!

Check out this conversation in my thread for more info

+1 to Karan. I learnt from his experience and declined the AC disinfectant service. I was prepared to decline if they proposed change of diesel filter, but the SA told me that diesel filter need be changed only during 30K service. I spent about 8.5k for the essentials.

My experience with first service is documented here.

Thanks Guys! Informative threads as usual.

@karan, Sorry to hear about that, dealerships do this all the time. Any small opportunity and they tend to cash it in. Two things are now clear

1. Diesel filter doesn't have to changed until 30k kms.
2. AC disinfectant is just a gimmick.

However, i'm keen on getting the interior cleaning done. I'm away from home and i am dead sure that both interiors and paint are being neglected by my father. Also would get one of those rodent repellents.(just to be safe) I would like do the paint protection myself once i'm back in India.

I shall anticipate that is service bill is somewhere around 10k.

Yes, all of that sounds about right. I'd rather get the interior/exterior detailing done by professionals, but in the interest of time and convenience, I guess giving it to the dealer is the best solution for you.

True that. I shall see the products they plan to use and accordingly will switch to a detailer. I have nothing for the leatherette in my arsenal. For the exteriors i remember stashing a few coatings.

Hello Amar,

Why not ask your dad to take the car to 3M once for the treatment?!

They should do a good job IMO.
