I was thinking of listing my 2014 -530D and can surely use your thread to ask for little more given the fine details written by you.

Are you planning to sell a 1 year old 530d? Why? Please don't! And if you do, hopefully she goes to a BHPian.

I would only recommend a 6-cylinder to you. Please also include the 525d that was earlier offered with a 6 cylinder engine. I saw innumerable examples for <30 lakhs.

Any idea if I can fit the M-Sport kit to the 520 D?
|
Absolutely. IIRC, the price was 1.5 - 2.0 lakhs for the M-Kit. Steering & paddle shifters are also possible, though what I'd really recommend is a singular focus on finding the right 525d / 530d. Don't buy a 520d. You'll never be as happy with one.

I thought its black till I scrolled to the picture with your brother where it suddenly feels like blue. Nice indeed.
|
A lot of folk who've seen it in person still think it's black.

However, you have mentioned that the 530D gets the 'shadowline' treatment - but I see chrome on the other contender you had considered. Pardon my ignorance, but I think it is only on the M-sport 530D.
|
Yep, shadowline was introduced on the M-Sport. At the same time, the 520d got even more ugly chrome. Check it out - so tasteless, so excessive.

Not sure I get what you mention for the auto a/c controls though. I thought the auto air circulation and air flow direction control are part of all ACC designs, even in smaller cars like my Punto
|
Yes, but not all climate control systems work that way. For instance, my Civic & Sunny don't send air to your feet automatically.

However, a removable neck restraint is a very useful safety feature if you are locked inside your car during an accident / emergency situation. Attaching the below Youtube video that explains this

The F10's driver door can unlock even if there is an electrical short circuit.

The legroom is nothing like what I expected to see.
|
Tell me about it. If you ask me what I dislike most about the car, it's this. The cramped rear legroom is the single biggest disadvantage of the 2012+ 5-Series.
Quote:
Personally, I would like to see the Civic make way for a real "hot" hatch. The Abarth Punto or if it sounds too tame for your tastes - the VW Polo GTI should fit the bill just fine.
|
Well, my Civic is quicker than both of them!

Yeah, those M5 rims are stunning. But I remain a 5-spoke fan. If & when I do swap:

A question: If you were to pick between the two: your beloved Jeep or your "Beast", which one would you pick?

The Jeep was a gift from Dad; it reminds me of him whenever I go out for a drive. I think you have your answer.

I am very happy to hear that - thank you.

If you drove one in 2012, odds are that one had the updated seats as well. The 2010 really wasn't bad at all.

How about an E60 530d in 15 lakhs? Get them while there are clean examples still around. Believe me, that car is a b-e-a-s-t.

Wasn't the E39 525d the fastest diesel sedan in the world at one time?

The Sunny was unique because no pre-worshipped ride at 9 lakhs offered me that kind of space & reliability.

I guess it's something that you become used to. My first lot of cars with an rpm meter (Lancer, 1st-gen City Vtec, Mercedes C180) all had them on the left side. Just a personal preference - no right or wrong.
Ferrari also prefers it that way

going into search mode! would greatly appreciate pointers if any,
thanks again! |
Jetta, any which day. Tip: Buy a <2 year old example and get the 2 years of extended warranty on it (or buy a >2 year old Jetta with the 4 year warranty in place). 12 lakhs will get you a timeless German tank. Absolutely love the Jetta!
Infinity recently had a 2.xx year old Jetta with 20,000 kms on the clock. Parsi owner who upgraded to a BMW. Asking price was 9.90 lakhs. Looked very clean.

You've reached the end of the road for upgrades. The 530d gives you a lot more than you will ever need in a sedan. Welcome to the "upgrade dilemna". There is nothing to beat this, so how do you intend to upgrade?
|
Let me enjoy my car for a couple of years - we'll discuss the upgrades later. Not worried as the heart is easy to please and falls in love with cars often. I agree with what you are saying though. This size of sedan is perhaps the biggest I'll stick with, unless a monster V8 petrol plays the role of a seductress sometime in the future.

So true. Frequently, at parties and social outings, the conversation veers to cars. A lot of people want to debate this 'new vs used' funda with me. I never do. My reply to them is simple "Yes, you should keep buying new cars so that guys like me can enjoy a never-ending supply of pre-worshipped cars'.
Though, I must add, the Civic & 530d have made a lot of them converts.
