Hey JK - I do not know how I missed this thread, Been in and out of Tbhp for a while.

Congrats on your new ride !! It looks fantastic !!! These pics are great. I have always been a very big fan of the Safari BUT someone or the other always discourages me against buying one.

Maybe one day !!! :)

Ooh Boy - Falkens' - What are you going to do with the current set then ?

Thanks.

Sell the OE tyres, I guess.

These number plates doesnt make sense at this point of time since when the govt comes with a regulation, you will have to go to an authorised vendor and get them affixed using a tamper proof screw (so that you cannnot remove yourself) and if you try to, the screw cannot be used again and its seal is broken.

Mine's bolted using tamper proof ones, but I didnt break them off.

jk, as dadu has already pointed out, maybe you should alter the santro style a bit, now you are in different teritorry :-)

though i'd not like to try myself, it is anyway good to know that safari can take some criss-cross.. :D

Just wanted to know what it can do. Now I know the upper limit of the Safari handling and how the OE tyres hold.

And think I should have posted how I drove my Xing too when I had it! :D

Guys, when are you visiting Kerala again?

Update: Odo at 3450kms:

FE: 11.07kmpkl and 11.34kmpl

First was high speed runs and I expected less than 10kmpl.

Had to top up tank today as I got System D and hence checked mileage at 1/4th tank.

Paid 350rs for a pair of Bosch Wipers. They rule! A must have.

I will be getting butter scotch / beige color seat covers soon. Do you guys have an inputs/comments regarding the color?

Hey, where did you get the system D from?

jk, I am having butterscotch color seat covers. Looks fantastic. Will try to post some snaps. Only grouse gets dirty very fast especially with my kids aged 4 and 8. I have to keep cleaning them with soft detergent very often.
In your case that worry is not there at least of now.

Are these Bosch Wipers the same size as the OEM fitment ?

Hi folks,

Well I have been reading through this site for quite sometime now ever since the first rumors of the new 2.2 started gaining credibility!

I must admit am joining the gang a bit late; had bought a 2.2 EX, light gold in Dec 07! Have clocked almost 3000 and wow what a 'beast' it is!

No probs till now(touch wood)! Don't regret my decision to having bought it after almost waiting for a year!!

u blokes are right, this beast just grows on u!

drive safely and bully all those lesser mortals around u..lol.......
cheers:

Hey join the club. The Safari Club grows bigger cheers:.

Do post your pictures, and please give your riding experiences, the FE, etc.....

EDIT: ADC had been to Siliguri immediately after his purchase. The Safari thing is not contagious is it ??

Congrats Zulu, we have a lot of 2.2 owners on Tbhp now. Do post pics.
I agree, this car just grows on you. Most people still think that safari is slow (TCIC image) but when they see the new 2.2 moving i am sure they are zapped.

Congrats Zulu.......good u dint open a new thread....do post some pics

Just out of curiosity I checked.

There are 228 Safari owners on the forum and 120 members out of them have never posted a single message. Talk about silent majority.:) Again only 36 of the remaining 108 are BHPians or above. Finally, Steeroid is not part of the above list since his profile doesn't mention Safari.lol:

After reading innumerable posts on Safaris (JK's as well as others), why do I keep getting the impression that:
1) the Safari is not to be driven around like a 'car',
2) that you can't 'rush' to office in this but that it is rather for a more staid, leisurely drive to an outing with the family,
3) that it's best only for highways,
4) that you can't have it as the only vehicle at home?

Thanks guys! shall post u all some snaps pretty soon. as far as the FE is concerned, have been getting a steady 13.5-14 which is a mix of city and highway driving. The beast is being fed a diet of Xtramile!

Recently did a trip to shillong a 600 kms one way. Took me 10 hours without a single glitch. Best part was that I did not feel tired at all. Could have driven back the same day had somebody challenged me!
:thumbs up:thumbs upclap:

No. Bosch one's are 22inch. OE pairs are of different lengths. Left one is smaller. Maybe 19inch or so and hence Bosch one's stick out a bit..1cm extra.

1) It does go like a heavier tall boy car, never like a sedan though.
2) I reach office earlier these days. I think its coz I cruise at higher speeds. This can be coz I dont feel the speed factor unless I look at the speedo.
3) emm, mixed opinion.
4) Depends. If my wife learns to drive it then it can be the only car. My mom will never drive it. A Premier Padmini fan and owner for last 35years!
So, it cant be the only car.

I know I owe you people some pix of the number plates and the carpet. Things have to wait as I am busy with work.
