Got 2 gallons of pd red from cosmotech. Sourced 2 gallons of xylene thinner locally( which was harder to get than pd itself!).
Sprayed it at my friends place with a paint gun and a compressor.
I wanted to put a black base but it was not available

unfortunately the pics are in the old phone which i lost. I will search if i have it in my laptop .
2 gallons of pd cost me Rs 13000.
2 gallons of xylene was around rs 2000.
hvlp spray gun around Rs 2000.
Fortunately my friend had a place which was equipped with a compressor for my spray gun.
Total time it took me from masking to finishing was around 5 hours.
as far as i know the cost of Pd has now increased.

Hi guys, I was looking to Plasti Dip my alloys in black. I searched a lot online but it's not available anywhere. Where can I purchase it from? How much does it cost? Help

@Arsi Same search here However if you are interested in other colors, paytm has listed a few from Carlas Plastipaint. I am not sure of the quality of this brand though. Please let me know, if you are able to source black color from else where. I tried reaching cosmotech guys, but in vain. Will try to reach them again sometime this week.

@shansundar I come across a lot of local aerosol sprays (F1, win, etc) costing around 100-300 bucks. Can't they be used?

@Arsi I don't think aerosol is removable like plastic dip. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes you're right. Aerosol sprays can not be removed.

I don't think there are any dealers for plasti dip in India.

@shansundar I know that but what I am trying to say is whether it is wise to use local sprays for painting alloys. Sorry for being slightly off topic.

Re: Plasti Dip in India? A Spray-on Rubberized Coating...

@Arsi

A proper paint job with the spray can give the intended good look to your alloys. But if you want to remove it, it is not going to be as easy as it is with rubberized paints. You have to use emery paper kind of stuff to scrap it off. You might even end up in destroying the enamel in your alloys. In addition it would be a time consuming job, removing for 4 or 5 wheels.

But, you have to consider these points, only if you wish to change the color of alloys again. If you are planning to stick with one color forever,I don't think it will affect your alloys. A couple of coats would do no harm as per my knowledge.

Re: Plasti Dip in India? A Spray-on Rubberized Coating...

@shansundar Do any of these paints, whether Plasti-dip or local aerosol, get affected by the rim temperature. And do we have to use any aluminum primer for the same or directly apply the paint?

Re: Plasti Dip in India? A Spray-on Rubberized Coating...

I don't think rim temperature would affect these. But yes, bad roads, gravel can definitely cause damage. Its better to have a spare bottle for touch-up in case of wear and tear. Flipping back the pages of this thread will throw some light on your questions related to durability.

On the primer front, you wouldn't need one. Ease of use is the idea behind these products, so its just like, open and spray as you wish.
