Re: Art Leather Seat Covers

Can anyone recommend a good vfm place to get art leather covers for my Civic? There are scores of detailing shops in this city but I'm afraid to go to a place without reference

Can you please provide cost breakup. I am also looking up to have Napa seat cover in my 2 day old Elite I20.
I went to local dealer and already got the quote but he said he will not be able to do steering cover like in pics you have shared.

I am planning to do
- Seat cover
- Steering cover
- Not sure i will get door panel and arm rest done. but do let me know their cost as well.

Also if my understanding is right both Nappa and Nova are from Hi-Tech company right? If yes than what is the difference between these two and which one is better? Also it would be great if someone can compare them with AutoForm. Thanks

Re: Art Leather Seat Covers

I see that a large number of car owners opt for pure leathers seats. Despite the claims about leather being cooler than PU and smarter than fabric, I cant get myself to ever buy leather seats.
From an ethical point of view, the fact that it is a dead cow's skin stretched across your car's interior instead of on its back, is worth a shudder.
It is bad enough to buy shoes and belts but they may be more unavoidable.
PU and fabric are certainly cooler ethically and more comfortable for the poor animals.

The guy quoted me 12k for everything on the phone.
I ended up paying 9k at the end including fitting.
It was 6k for the seats
1.5k for the steering cover
1.5k for the side door panels
It's been 6 months now the covers are as new as they were.

Hello
First of all there is no such thing as dead cow skin. You don't get pure animal skin in India.
Every leather is chemically treated, polished and there are some long process involved in producing leather.Pure leather will never be durable.
Nobody can provide pure leather in 8-15k range. Its all faux leather termed as pure leather here in India.

Is this true ? I was under the impression that Stanley and Ovion etc are real leather !

Besides, they cost a lot more than 8-15k.

The seats available for this price are clearly sold as art leather, leatherette, Rexine and PU.

@Fiestarry, if you are still searching for seat covers, then try:

1. Elegant Auto.
I have got a set from them. It is synthetic, but doesn't sweat /. heat up like Art leather does. The one I got looks like fabric, and also is easy to clean.

2. Jute based covers.

There is nothing Italian about the Art Leather products. Its Manufactured by the Jindals i.e.made in India. The cost is rs 200 per metre here in Kurla. For my ertiga they quoted Rs 15000. You need 10 metres for ertiga and a good seat cover maker will charge you anything between 2500-3000 for stitching. Hence the total cost would be rs 5000 max with fitting. The material is rexine with cotton lining. Another Material which is better than this and gives the look of leather cost 400 per metre.

If any one needs help regarding this please feel free to contact me.
Hi Fuzail, I am planning to check the Orchis outlet today for seat covers. If what you mentioned is correct, I would rather get it done your way. I cross Kurla everyday. Could you suggest a shop to check the art leather for. Also, if you could help with a guy to get the covers stitched. I would, on any given day, go the longer route for a better quality cover than just simply going to Orchis. Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: Art Leather Seat Covers

Please let me know of good seat installers in Hyderabad.

Also, as I understand there are different types of art leathers e.g. napa, nova etc. Would like to know the difference between them and which is better?
