I think I will stick to current stiffness settings as its perfect for the current power.
Aah, I think Konis would be a good choice for me too then. Why not get the best shocks rather than mid level coil-overs? Do you think the Konis would be fine for an everyday car on Mumbai's, ahem, roads?

I am damn happy with the ride quality to be honest. If you want, you can try driving my car if you are gonna be making a trip to Pune in the near future.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Maybe he's hinting at a pic of the beamer instead of the lancer

Keep it that way !! One the cops looking at the RC would be happy. Two people will develop a lot of respect for Mitsubishi on the whole.

Ya the FTO engine has been sitting there since 2007 or 8. It does not fire up. Don't touch it with a barge pole. I was offered that when I was doing my Lancer, but there are parts missing, which were not sourced, so I assume it is not available.

As for Autopsyche, engines of any kind are not their forte. Body kits YES. So stay away from any engine mods or engine swaps from Autopsyche. I am talking from experience.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Was priviledged enough to go for a spin in this car Never thought of it that time but the ride quality was pretty good, better than my oem palio shocks! Don't know about body roll since he wasnt really pushing it due to traffic

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Finally got time to go to Mumbai for my first Dyno run after the engine swap was completed succesfully.
Here is the graph of the first ever dyno run. This run was intended to get a reference point for the future modifications planned. This should help in ironing out minor issues and should help a lot in the tuning process.
Nothing extraordinary here but still it was good fun
Thanks Pranav for accompanying me to KS Motorsport and thanks to Karan for doing the run.

Attachment 472907
so right now its about 95BHP at 5300 RPM on the wheels, not bad.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

^^ 92-93 hp to be precise. We did 2 runs and first was 93 odd and this is the 2nd one.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Looks like you are losing quite a bit because of the gearbox or clutch slippage. Most 4G94 Lancers (aka Cedias) dyno around 100HP.

But as you said, its a good reference to start with.

So what is the target after the build?

At the tap not at the wheels.

Not really, Mitsu claims that the Indian Cedia is rated at 115 bhp and transmission losses are around 20hp or so if I am not mistaken. Therefore its highly unlikely that one gets 100 odd horses at wheels on a bone stock car.

Anyway its not just the gearbox and clutch slippage that causes these power losses. There are a lot of other factors involved. The main being the ECU, its not from this engine and hence the map is not tuned for this engine. Also this ECu was meant for an engine which had 275cc injectors whereas I have 240cc ones which came with the engine.

Similarly there are lot of other factors involved. This is precisely why I did the run,to help me iron out these issues and minimize the losses as much as possible.

Even the exhaust, its built keeping in mind the turbo & hence not very productive in current NA state.
