Thanks for the revert.

My current Michelin Scorchers, rear has lasted for about 15k kms will stretch 1-2k more. Front is completely bald and needs urgent replacement. OEM Dunlop pairs, I changed at about 13k. They were still usable, but, I was paranoid about a puncture that I had in the rear tyre. So, other than early wear, maybe a 10k kms life, any handling issues expected from the Metzeler?

after several months of hunt, unfortunately, this is the only piece I could manage relatively fresh stock (Oct'21), due to the ongoing import restrictions :(

Ya the import fiasco has ruined tyre availability for us. No Metz Me880 or Avon Cobras available too?

With a rounder profile tyre like the M9rr, you might find the tip-ins a little too sudden - but can compensate for that by lowering your pressure by 3-4psi on both tyres. Also, probably watch out for how the braking feels initially since these will have lesser contact patches than your previous tyres - can again be compensated a bit by lower pressures.

Bumping up again. Are there any issues, if there is an OffRoad tire at the rear and a normal one at the front? I have heard that there might be snow etc in Ladakh during my visit in June.

The issue is unavailability of tyres. Just handful of 160/60/17's are available and they are 2019 manufactured. So in a tight spot here....

Try the new Vredestein tyres from Apollo. They are pretty decent and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Re: Motorcycle Tyres : Compared!

Powerdrift has a YouTube review of Vredestein done by Shumi (it was on a track though).

I’m trusting it would be unbiased, objective advise, given that its from Shumi, albeit under Powerdrift banner.

I did not go into deep to understand the logic behind that but since I am already a proud member of the group, thought of getting the advice from the forum itself.

Front Tyre, Zapper
Unlike a 4 wheeler, on a bike, normally both the tyres are not replaced at the same time simply because the wear on the rear tyre is more and the front not much. Also because, the front and back are of different sizes and thread pattern and on normal asphalt riding, it will not make a difference.

But the front tyres you have now for sure are not good for off-roading and muddy surfaces and I would recommend to change that to something better for off-road use.

Thank you Tharian for coming to my rescue. Yes, I have changed the front wheels too and then went for a bit of an off-roading with my gang. Loved the experience. Need to go for a few more rides in order to get accustomed to the new shoes.

Thank you again for the very timely suggestion

Re: Motorcycle Tyres : Compared!

Looking to buy a new set of H-rated 110/70 and 150/60 (stock size) Metzeler M5s. All the dealerships I checked with push either Apollo Alphas or Michelin Road 5s. Any dealership recommendations in Bengaluru for the Metzelers in KTM sizes?
TIA.

What is your usage like? You could consider the Ceat Zoom Plus tires. Ceat makes pretty good tires these days. I have used different Ceat tires and was happy with their performance, considering the price that they retail at.

I've been riding for 700km/month, but mostly on city roads. The bike currently comes with mrf zapper fx1(front) and mrf zapper s(rear). I've no issues so far with those tyres. But still seeking out advice if there are better set than the current ones. And is it true that bike tyres wear out as early as 15k-20k kms? I'm sorry but I'm a noob with tyres genre.
