Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Hi Guys,

I was planning to get a tail bag or saddle bag for my KTM 390 adventure, though I am confused about which to go for. I wanted to go for the Viaterra Hammerhead which looked like a versatile bag and had easy mounting/unmounting and didn't require me to attach an extra accessory like the saddle stay.

Could you guys suggest what would be the closest match to the Viaterra Hammerhead ?

Cheers

Did you mean the Boomerang tailbag by Dirtsack ?

Also has anyone checked out Wroom Turtuk 2.0

Not as aesthetic as a Rynox or Viaterra, but seems they are very functional. As in they have more of a function over form design.

If your requirment is less than 40ltrs Dirtsack Boomerang, Viaterra Element or Raptor is the best option IMO, all are same with easy mounting setup.

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

I did another 1000+ kilometer ride with the Viaterra Mini. The space that it offers is deceptive. I was able to pack in several days worth of clothes, some food items, my tablet and so on, with ease. The only issue that I face, is that I can never get the bag to be tied down tightly enough, that it doesnt move at all. Ive heard other riders say that when the bag is strapped down properly, it doenst move an inch. In my case, however tight I make it, after an hour or two of sedate and / or spirited highway riding, I always find that there is some play in the straps. It isnt enough to make the bag move around or anything, but it does need tightening. I guess that I am doing something wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it because of the forward lean on the seat?

This gives me something to do when I take a water break, so its not the end of the world or anything. But it would be nice, if I could learn to tie it down properly.

Hi, first off the Hammerhead is a pretty large capacity product. Do you really need 75 litres? Or would something smaller like the Claw Mini do? For most riders, the Claw Mini is more than sufficient. When I was asking around the community on whether or not to look at the Hammerhead, I was told that I would probably never really need all that space. Also, I heard that strapping it down would be a lot easier if the motorcycle had a rear rack. Both my bikes dont.

The other option to the Hammerhead, is the Viaterra Claw (72L).

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Guys, I wish to alert you about this Company called Bikester Global. They put out some very fancy ads online (Pic 3). But i have received the Carbonado ModPac 10L. And the quality leaves much to be desired. These accessories are only as good as the stress points, and this wont last a season with me. The material is already frayed/cracked, as you can see. I contacted Customer care and spoke to one Vivian (Someone Senior, there). He said he will arrange 'reverse pick up' for a refund (They promise 30 days returns) and even after a week there was no action. After repeated calls I get a email saying product has to be shipped to them AT MY COST and 'THEY' will decide on the merit. Plus Rs 150 will be charged for this inconvenience. I have dealt with a lot of online companies for bike stuff, (and recently an issue with KRIEGA was also sorted to my satifaction) - but none like this. Have any of you faced a similar situation? Do let the forum know

This bag is a straight rip off of kriega. When will indian companies work on their own stuff instead of blatantly copying IP and to top it off not even execute it right!

This reinforces my belief in buying Indian made luggage or gear only from viaterra. I have inspected rynox as well and the finishing leaves much to be desired.

Btw kriega is top of the food chain. I have a swmotech tail bag and have put it through the ringer for over 6 years and 100k kms and the bag says bring it on!

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Yeah Kriega is at another level and I'm having a good experience. Issue was with missing fasteners and they immediately sent me a replacement. SW Motech is fantastic as well. But this incident has left me shaken. Indian companies should avoid such tricks, and rise above the mediocre

Hello Sebring,

I was impressed by the ad too and the quality of the product as seen in the pics and some YouTube videos. I ordered for a Modpack 5L tailbag and have used it only once one a ride. Let me check the bag and update here if i am facing any issues.

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Bought the storm proof expedition backpack. Got luggage organisers with it to compress and organise my belongings. On first impression the material feels as it may give up soon. The mounting points provided are decent, the roll top procedure (minimum three folds) seems to be a task(I may be doing it wrong). The bag in itself is voluminous. I will update the forum once I put it through Leh.

Nope; it has to be fastened very tightly between back & front as well; basically the rear fastener & the front 2 fastener tied to the footrests.

Incidentally I was demonstrating the power of Claw mini to a friend of mine 2 weeks ago on Inty. I pulled the tailbag to move the bike from side stand. The Claw mini hasn't lost a single stitch yet!!

Oh my. This is very concerning. I ordered the Carbonado 20L modpack recently and used it on a 900 km two way ride Delhi - Almora - Delhi on my Interceptor 650. The bag stayed put for most part but I had a backpack tied over it which caused the whole setup to loosen up every 150km or so, specially on bad patches. I mostly thought I got what I paid for. Yet to see how well they last and how well they perform on their own. Your experience does have me worried. My friend has the Kriega tail bag and a backpack which have served him well for around 4 years. I found it interesting but way too out of my budget.

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Please don't be worried. Today I was at Hyperriders and they have Carbonado 20L on display. It was just superb. (This does say DRIFT on it, so maybe a sub-brand). What they sent me was really bad, so what I have received is basically a defective piece. Even so, why should i bear return shipping, plus 150 bucks as charges for their error? They're hell bent on this

Re: The Saddle & Tail Bag Review Thread

Is anyone using the POD tailbag from Viaterra or a similar product from other manufacturers, looking for feedback on this, since I am planning to buy one.

I have a bike whose back seat is not very big and also inclined to the front, will this POD bag sit plush on such kind of seat?

Even I am interested in something similar. Not a fan of tankbags so want something like this to keep some basic stuff.

Was sold on Carbonado Modpac but Sebring's bad experience made me lose interest in that. So I'm inclined towards the Viaterra pod 12 L. Looks like it won't be an issue for the RR 310. Seems like there's a dealer near to my home. Will visit and let you know if it fits well, if he has it in stock.
