Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

I can just remember TVS only for the SHOGUN.
Yet it was Japanese engineering then.

The Apache and Mojo never made me even think of it.
Lets see how this 310 does.

Mojo? The Mahindra one?

Apache didn't appeal to a lot of people and same goes for the pulsars/NSs. Sadly that's what is available(and affordable) for majority of us and we have to live with the fact.

About racing heritage bashing. Well that's probably because Indian Motorsport circuit wasn't really covered much ever, but whoever followed it would agree TVS is one of the most celebrated teams there. Heck even their racer XL 50 was capable of 100+ speeds back in 90s.

And what's wrong if they bring out a product with BMW's help. Isn't that what Bajaj is doing with all their new products.

310RR looks like a promising product, though agreed a sub-2L pricing would have helped it's cause.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

i was checking and Apache has a claimed ground clearance of 180 mm, which is better then both versys(170 mm) and Mojo (173.5), does that mean we can take this bike to some difficult terrains, and this should ideally not scrape.

The GC figure on Apache RR310 suggests that the bike can go over oversized speedbreakers without scraping more than hardcore(atleast half serious) adventure riding offroad like on Versys or other adv bikes.

Along with GC, a longer suspension travel, off road tyres(Michelin radials suck offroad) and upright ergonomics are required to make a bike suitable for all terrains, which I think the apache cannot fit in.

PS: RC390 had 178mm GC, but with the tiny suspension travel and ergonomics, smallest of offroads will be a nightmare on it.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

This is one feature highlighted in specifications listing of Apache RR310 on Auto blogs but no online review gives actual feedback on effectiveness of this feature:
Quote:
TVS also has a patent-pending hot air deflector that intends to divert heat downwards and away from the rider's legs. It's a clever idea in a segment where perceived heat is a common complaint.
Looks like real world users will be able to comment on it better. Test drive feedback from BHPians would be more realistic on this point.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

What a lovely looking motorcycle! The pictures make me want to buy one even though I don't really need one. A couple of folks who tried it out on the track are singing praises about the engine and quality, although it isn't meant as a pure track machine.
Glad to see Indian manufacturers moving it a notch up with their offerings here.

I am not sure what racing heritage they are talking about.
TVS has done more than any other Indian manufacturer for the domestic racing scene and can be more than proud of their contributions for decades now. They have participated and won in more rallies/autocross than anyone else and the Fiero is a rightful legend for what it achieved in 90s/early 2000s. Even recently, they have taken their RTRs to Raid de himalaya/Dakshin dare and have regularly won. They run a successful one-make series with a pretty quick, track spec RTR200. They were the first Indian company to race at Dakar. They run a Racing academy for upcoming racers with training by multiple national champions and have churned out more Indian racers than anyone else.
When other, larger, multi-national motorcycle companies completely ignored the Indian racing scene, these guys were ploughing at it with limited resources. Let's not belittle them so easily.

Apologies for going
PS: I don't own a TVS motorcycle - but that doesn't make me appreciate them lesser.

Ha ha sure, let's ride together once I get it, ETA is 45 days, but he said should be within a month.

Thanks for your suggestion around Ninja 400,it cleared up my mind to ditch it, I will continue to hunt for a pre worshipped ninja 650 2017 model though.

Congrats on the booking. Which dealer did you book it with?

Red looks good, but I personally dislike the white stripes though. It should be quite easy to remove them.

Below are the average volume per month, for all the bikes comparable in this price range. Now, you can see why TVS has set a target of 10,000 units per year.

1. The closest rival, the RC 390 and its twin Duke 390 sells approx. 900 - 1,000 units per month (both combined).
2. Duke 250 - 500 - 600 units per month.
3. Dominar 400 - 1,800 - 2,000 units per month.
4. Duke 200 twins (combined) - 2,000 - 2,500 units per month.
5. FZ 25 twins (combined) - 3,000 - 3,500 per month.
6. Ninja 300 - < 50 units per month and Mojo - < 100 units per month.
7. CBR 250R and R3 (when they were sold earlier) - approx. 300 and < 100 units per month, respectively.

Now, from the above sales figures, we can see that even the VFM kings 390 twins are selling only close to 1,000 units and the lesser priced Dominar sells close to 2,000 units. So, I can see that TVS selling only close to approx. 1,000 units per month.

SHOGUN was Suzuki not TVS and MOJO is Mahindra. TVS Fiero was a great bike which lead to the Apache series.
