Also, is there any other source for the 330G Plus except AliExpress?
I'm worried about customs if I order from AliExpress. If I have to pay, what would be the process?

Thanks for replying to each of my queries in detail.
There is no comparision between cost differences. A BT module will cost 3-4K max with shipping while a 330G will set you back 10-12K from Aliexpress incl. of shipping max.

VAGtune Kochi is another source for the HU. Contact Sugesh and he could help further.

Getting information on the MFD (on the Jetta) is something I am not sure about. Maybe you can ask moderator Gannu_1 about this on his Polo thread. He has retrofitted this HU and also enabled park pilot for both front and rear parking sensors. He also sourced the unit for $105 which is a very good price IMO. The HU won't show climatronic settings either, but your car has a manual HVAC so you need not worry about this.

P.S. Just checked his thread. Here are his impressions:

Also got my HU changed to the RCD 330G + MIB 2 unit. After the Skoda Rapid drive that happened last month, I was sold on this HU. The capacitive touch LED display is ridiculously smooth! More like a current gen. smartphone display. Plus no CD drive meant zero moving parts and a more compact unit. And the integrated Bluetooth (supports connections to two devices simultaneously so one can be for streaming music and the other can be for mobile network) and an onscreen dialer also helped. What I miss is the information on the MFD. It only displays who’s calling. For 105 USD inclusive of Aramex shipping to Chennai with zero duties, I have zero complaints!

Which BT module are you referring to? There are many right? Also, could you mention any sources if you know? I couldn't find any within 3-4k range.

330G without CarPlay and Android Auto is around 13k from AliExpress plus customs charges if any.
330G with CarPlay is around 14k plus customs charges.
330G with both CarPlay and Android Auto is around 16k plus customs.
The one in the post you're referring to is without CarPlay and Android Auto. But the $105 price tag is tempting enough to skip CarPlay and Android Auto. I couldn't find any at that price.

VAGTUNE Kochi is selling the 330G without CarPlay and Android Auto for around 24k and with both for around 27k.

There's a seller based in Delhi, Classic Cars. They're selling 330G with both CarPlay and Android Auto for 18k plus shipping.

And lastly, any idea if I'd have to change the fascia on MK6 Jetta if i upgrade from RCD510 to RCD330G?

I had 330 plus (Without Carplay and Android Auto) on my Jetta MT and I did not face any issue for over a year. This will need Quadlock connector if your Jetta has ISO type interface. I have one quadlock connector with me, so ping me if you need it.

I'll need it in case if my car has ISO. But I don't know how to differentiate.

Check out Gannu's thread below. It has details on ISO, quadlock and ISO-Quadlock cable.

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

I have decided to take the 330G route for BT.

Moving on to the next mod, I'd like to change the DRL's and Number Plate bulbs to white LED's. Any suggestions?

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

When is the scheduled DSG oil change interval for Jetta? My car is a 2011 model and has clocked 74.5k kms. It has never been changed so far. My previous service was at 73k. Should I change it immediately? Or should i change it when I go in for the next service?

It is 60000 kms. So in your case it is overdue. I changed mine at 50000 kms just to be on the safer side. As DSG is the major suspect among failures. Though to be fair since they have changed the oil grade I have not heard of any failures on Jettas.

Also put the gear lever to neutral if stationary in traffic for more than 10 secs.

The DSG oil change costs about 7-8 k. Ensure they change in front of you just to be sure.

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

I'm aware of as to how to use a DSG properly with care. I'm only worried about the DSG oil change. My SA at VW quoted around 13-14k including all the filters.

The original schedule was at 60K kms, but when I went for my 60K service, they said they received a new communiqué from VW saying it is not needed at 60K, but much much later 90K if I remember correctly).

I said no, thank you, the original VW schedule said 60K, so please change the fluid now.

Cheers

Which model car was yours? If it isn't 2011, is it possible that maybe they changed the oil from factory to a better grade and hence the update in schedule?

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

Recommended intervals:
For MT: 1L KMs
For AT: 60K KMs

I would say change DSG oil every 50K KMs given the environment and traffic condition we drive our cars in.

I faced an issue of gear grinding in my Jetta MT and it resolved once I changed oil at some 45K Kms.

FIAT OTH, always recommended to change gear oil every 24K Kms or 2 years.

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

Am taking my pre-worshipped Jetta 2.0 TDI for its annual service, next Tuesday.

The car will be going to VW Mysore (though I am based in BLR).

The car has run 1,03,990 km as of today and I will get the timing belt changed at this service. Jetta is now 5.5 years old.

I also checked on the add-on warranty - the cost is Rs 56,000 for one year.

They will do a quick check of the car and let me know before I can take the additional warranty.

I am not sure, if I should take the warranty - so any inputs from owners would be helpful.

The previous owner of the car has changed the water pump on warranty and also changed all 4 door actuators, the battery was changed about 1.5 years ago.
The car runs on Bilstein B6 suspension.

Re: Volkswagen Jetta : Test Drive & Review

That Is Chetan's Jetta. As per his thread he has maintained it pretty well, but since you are the owner, you will know the present condition of car better. If everything is working fine I think spending 56000 on warranty is not required. A lot will depend on your driving conditions and style. A careful driver in mostly urban settings shouldn't be a worry. If i were you I will skip.

On another note i will appreciate if you could describe in detail the ride quality with B6 suspension as mine is due for a change and I am contemplating B6 with stock springs or Koni Special Active Red( Advanced version of KONI FSD).

i would specifically like you views on low speed ride comfort over broken urban roads & Ride comfort at highway speeds(Sharp jerks, bouncing, behaviour over dips and undulations, etc .Looking for comfortable ride devoid of undulations and sharp jerks.

Thanks.
