Hope the car is fit & fine now.

Just 1 question - how did they identify the leak? Via some error code on an OBD scanner or manual checking?

Cheers,
Vikram

Yes the car is fine. It was identified by the leaking/spray of fuel from there when we tried to crank the engine. Fuel pressure wasn't building , hence the car had to be towed.

If the leakage is high, it would be visible but if not the fuel rail pressure would give lower values as compared to a normal Storme's engine when hooked to an OBD which should point out the fault.

Thanks for the input Anurag. The leak was visible in form of spray when we cranked the engine. To identify the position of leak, we had to remove the plastic cover of the engine.

Hardly 3k kms back 2 of my fuel injectors were also changed under warranty after inspection by Delphi representative, as I had complained of a knocking sound from engine. Is it somewhere related?

The two injectors that were changed, was the leak from that area around those two injectors (post the change)?

Anurag.
A correction only 1 injector was changed, and it seems adding up. Common rail had a leak near the line supplying to the same injector. Which is connected to the rail point I had marked for the leak in the image.
Did that choked injector result in leak from the rail or did the TASS did something wrong whilst changing the said injector?

Looking at TASS standards of servicing I guess it could be handling issue when the injector was changed.

The other possibility I feel is the choked injector would be creating a back-pressure hence the leak.

Since the pressure of common rail is regulated (as well as limited) in a CR fuel injection system, the possibility of chocked injector causing a leak is negligible. Most probably the poor workmanship of TASS has caused this failure.

Ok let's accept that the tass messed it up. But how is it that the vehicle went on for almost 2.5-3kms/ 1month without missing a beat and stalled while doing 60kmph on road?

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys
I have been waiting for past 2 weeks for the front shock absorber to arrive and am told that there is some delay at Tata motors side. Is there any email id to which I can share this feedback and seek help to expedite the parts dispatch ?

Thanks

customercare@tatamotors.com

Send an email with detail to this ID or alternatively raise a complaint on there website .
You will be alloted a complaint number and a complaint resolution executive within 24-48 hours.

The exec so allotted will help you secure the necessary part and fitted.

I have faced non availability of parts issue 3-4 times earlier.
The above process has worked flawlessly every time.

Also recently there was a major fire at pune warehouse of TML.
may be the delay is due to that.

Anyways the above mentioned method will work.

Its also possible that TML's plant is shut for annual maintenance.

Most companies do so at least once a year, if not twice.

Excise duty cut that government was offering was over on 31st December. I guess there would be some price adjustment on the upward side.

TML is generally closed only in Diwali holidays for maintenance. However, the frequency increased in the recent years, to match the demand.

Further, parts are generally dispatched from the SPD( Spare Parts Distribution) center to all the delers/ service centers based on request.
Also, SPD sources these spares directly from suppliers.
Pls find the regional Spoc / Sales Manager for escalation.

If you approach the right person, they are taking it seriously now a days. Based on my cousin's recent experience.

Maverick79.
