Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Just back from a trip to Ooty over the weekend bringing in 28000kms. Will post detailed trip highlights by tomorrow in my ownership thread.
By the way does the Storme have a fly by wire throttle ?

If I recall correctly, the Storme does not have drive-by-wire.

Tata had drive-by-wire throttle in Dicor and 2.2vtt dicors. There is no way they could remove it in Storme.

All modern CRDI vehicles including storme have an electronic throttle, also called drive by wire. You will be hard pressed to find a cable throttle in any of the new diesels. I think this is now true for many petrol MPFI cars too.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys - the issue I reported of delay in replacement of front shocks is still not resolved. A week back the service in charge at Tata motors for Chennai city called me and assured that the part is in transit and will reach by 13th. Since then no news and no response to emails or phone calls. Could you guyS help with points of escalation at Tata motors ? Thanks a lot.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Need a advice from fellow Storme and also older Dicor owners. How good/bad is Storme/Dicor from an underbody rusting perspective?

I am contemplating whether to spend 5.5 to 6K (approx.) on 3M underbody treatment (with 5 year warranty). Although i stay in Chennai (humid and next to the sea), but will never do off-roading (my beast is not a 4X4) or do water splashing in sea water.

I don't think its necessary. Out your car on ramp and see the underbody - It already has a black rubber coating. Additional coating on a coating may not give you any extra benefit I suppose....I had this thought too and finally dropped the idea

Not required in my opinion. I've had my 4x4 dicor 2.2 for 6 years and driven it more than 152k, no underbody treatment and haven't faced any issues as yet.

Enjoy your beast!

There was a major fire very recently in the TML main spare part store at Chakan and all TML spares stock worth a few crores were charred. Therefore the delay in spares across the country at all TASS outlets.

This pune incident was reported on november 5, while another fire broke out at TML south delhi's mahipalpur godown on december 5th and goods worth a lot were gutted. Smelling of arson or sheer carelessness?
