Gave my car for service today. The service centre guy also thought that it was a software glitch due to which the service reminder icon is not showing. But he checked other ecoboost model there and found that this feature is not available on ecoboost and petrol. Also it is not mentioned in petrols owners manual. Can someone with either petrol or ecoboost confirm this??

I thought this "Service your Vehicle soon (SVS)" light on the dashboard id common for all cars and not restricted to diesel per say.

I strongly suspect you're joking, given your involvement in the forums, but if not: what the OP referred to was the EcoBoost and 1.5 NA petrol. :)

Yes on a lighter note, just posted it for fun though, edited my post and removed it.

@To all EcoSport owners:

I have one question from long:

In the Official review there was a mention of loosing instrumentation console binnacle fitting and could be moved with one hand. Are anyone still facing this issue or Ford has addressed this in the production-ready cars?

Anurag.

Guys gave my Ecoboost today for 2nd free service.
Here are the problems that i was facing.

1. Loud noise from rear suspension after going through a bump (especially in full load)
2. Front brake noise.
3. Rattles from front passenger door, glovebox area and instrument binnacle.
4. Reverse camera with IRVM display not dimming during night time.

Also, they wanted me to pay around Rs.800 for the wheel alignment and balancing which i later refused as i insisted it was included in 2nd free service.
Initially they gave an estimate for Rs.4000 including Rs.800(excl. labour) for wheel alignment and balancing.
They also insisted on 10W30 engine oil instead of 5W30, but after showing proof from owners manual they agreed on 5W30. According to them it was mandatory for petrol and ecoboost to have 10W30, all this time they were following this for servicing vehicles. I guess its dangerous to put wrong engine oil.

I have heard in this thread about upgrading ECU/PCM software, can someone throw some light on this subject, as the service assistant seemed clueless when i told him about it. (Sorry if this subject has been already covered)

Siddhant.

Check the mountings and bushes. They may have issues, cant say worn out since the car is relatively new.

2. Front brake noise.

Is it under braking only? Check the pads and discs for abrasion and also check if the wheel is rotating freely or no. If it is not rotating freely then the brakes are binding the wheel. Get it freed.

May be you'll have to ask them to refit or tighten the bolts that hold these.

Check the wiring as it may be plugged to get activated or the sensor is playing havoc. IMO there is a button on the IRVM to activate this feature.

Good you refused else the customer is taken for a royal ride. I suggest you to get the Wheel alignment + Wheel balancing + Wheel rotation done out at a specialist rather than F.A.S.S.

Something is seriously wrong with Ford's technical + training team. :Frustrati

Either wrong information is getting printed in the owners manual which is misleading the customer or the staff is ignorant of the actual figures for the fluids and grades.

Could be a printing error in with respect to the service manual & owners manual.

Yeah i have told them to do the same. I don't see it either how it can be worn so soon.

Yes its only under braking. At the time of parking the car when i slam the brakes to halt the car, i can hear a screeching noise from front right disc.

Have shown them the affected areas during the test ride this morning. Hopefully they can solve it as i have very little faith in the quality of work here at Ahmedabad Ford. These rattles are mainly due to their poor level of workmanship during my early visit at their centre.

They will check the wiring as well as the whole instrument itself. The button is only to adjust the brightness of the reverse screen.

No need, after my argument and showing them the service manual they have agreed to do it free of cost. As such it was only precautionary as i wasn't facing any problems in the balance of the car.

The manual is correct. Last time during 1st free service they had put in 5W30 only, but this time the service assistant was different and he was suggesting 10W30, saying that he has been putting this oil in all the petrol and ecoboost engines till now and it is the correct one for it (Feel sorry for all the people who have wrong grade of oil due to this persons ignorance). I was shocked how different personnel in same dealership have different information and knowledge :Shockked:
He immediately called someone up and later confirmed that 5W30 was the correct grade.

I also thought the same, as Naveen.Raju mentioned that the icon popped up on his TDCi Ecosport. But i guess i was wrong.
Other members who have either 1.5l petrol or ecoboost kindly check and revert please.

There are 2 dealers at Cochin, Kairali & Malayalam. I booked my car with M/s Malayalam and their terms and conditions clearly states Rs.3000 is the fee for cancellation.

Which dealer you're referring to?

It was Kairali Ford. The sales person seemed very happy to cancel the booking - May be it was my too many questions!:)

I would've opted for Diesel, but my monthly commute is in the range of 300-400 kms. Therefore, I guess it makes no sense for me to go for Diesel car.

Besides, the reason why Ford Petrol cars have low resale value is primarily due to the lasting reputation of the Ford Ikon. Ford Ikon was a great car, but extremely expensive to maintain and had very low mileage.

However, the Ford Figo and Fiesta have changed that perception. Ford's 1.5 TiVCT engine is highly reliable and gives a solid performance with a decent mileage. The 1.5 TDCi is definitely better, but given my meager usage, I had opted for Petrol.

Regarding Ecoboost, I believe it was not worth the extra money. Agreed that it has a better performance (though being smaller) and better mileage (again mostly irrelevant in my case), but shelling out an extra 1 lakh is a bit too much, frankly. In fact, it is better to go for Diesel than to go for Ecoboost.

Lastly, I don't mind waiting for another 2-3 months for my car. But yes, the earlier the better :)

Got my ecosport today. The instrument binnacle is more rigid. Surprisingly , the first thing I checked after getting into the car(call me paranoid or obsessed ).

Another thing I noticed, the recirculation mode need not be reset every time in start my car. Noted the point in the official review. It's stays put in my car. Happy about it. After 7 hrs and 100 km later, am a happy person.

Gripes (well not exactly):
The sync is probably just ok. The idrive on my 320d is far more user friendly and quick. This system takes a few fractions more to "think" what to do.

Still have to figure how to browse contacts quickly and access call logs quickly on the sync.

Head lights: one word - horrible.
Fog lamps: surprise, fantastic.

Amazing seats, a/c quite good considering the temp was hovering around 40 today, ice more than adequate.

Overall, quirky, cool, enjoyable ( prob too soon, but nevertheless the feeling at present). And took to it like fish to water as I had a figo till a fortnight ago!
Cheers!

Wow. This is a very useful fix. For me it keeps going into fresh air mode every time I start the car (Dec 2013).

Somebody here mentioned an easy fix for that. I turn off the ac every time before turning off the ignition by habit. So when I start the car, the ac is off. To turn on the AC I don't press the Auto or AC button; instead press the recirculation mode button only and it turns on in recirc mode. Just need to get used to doing this.

You might want to try "not switching off ur a/c". I don't know if that is the reason, but I never actually switch off auto climate control before I switch off the engine ( it is supposed to keep u at a particular temp without intervention, the reason we pay more for it) 😆

Any suggestions for headlights?

That I tried. If I keep the AC on and then turn off then start again it will start in fresh air mode. I need to press recirc again.

Ofcourse the climate control keeps the temp maintained but I prefer to turn it off when switching off the car so that when you start up the next day on a cold engine, the engine doesn't turn on with the AC load. Just a precaution to not load a cold engine. I turn on the AC only after engine is warmed up after a couple of minutes.

Are you planning to upgrade the bulbs like 100/90 setup or stick to stock rating (60/55W Philips Xtreme Vision)?
