Have you tried putting the phone in handsfree mode. That should keep the screen always on. OR if your phone has NFC reading ability, then there is a thread on a setup that shows how the phone can be programmed to switch on Bluetooth/Wi-Fi as soon as the phone is placed in the dock.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

I own an Aspire titanium TDCi with 7257 kms on the odo. I find the noise levels to be very high at highway speeds and on the rough roads. Has anyone else faced similar issues? Is Ford offering the Tyre change scheme even now?

If you are referring to just the tyre noise, yes the stock tyres get noisy quite soon and get worse as they wear.

I too have thought on the same lines of using an unused phone permanently on the dock instead of fiddling with the primary phone every time. But I always had my concerns.
1. The phone will always be connected either to the charger or the USB port within the dock. That might result in overheating of the phone.
2. The second reason is the most disturbing one for me. Though most of us leave our cars in covered parking most of the times, it doesn't mean that we don't leave it out in the open at all. And when we do so, leaving an electronic gadget on the dashboard where the heat from the sunlight affects the most is unsafe. Remember, any Lithium ion battery is sensitive to temperature changes. Leaving the spare phone on the dock permanently is not safe as it might trigger a fire. Please note that the built-in touchscreens coming with the vehicles may have their power connections directly to the ignition and would not pose such a risk.

I did not want to take such risks and would suggest you to take a second thought as well.

Is Ford still replacing the tyres like they did before?
I only have problem with the tyre noise inside the cabin.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

What samcan123 said is quite relevant and I would think over it. I had same thoughts before, but looking at the unused phone, thought of giving it a try. I have a privilege though that most of the time, the car gets a covered parking spot. Call it benefits of residing in a really small town.

I tried but the moto phone doesn't support Google assistant and handsfree phone unlocking features. I can enable it on the phone I keep with me (Lenovo p2) but I find it too intrusive.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

Guys, today while driving at slightly over 100kmph on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, I felt a sudden lack of power from my Figo diesel. It was felt only for a fraction of a second. After another 10 seconds, I felt the same lack of power and the engine stopped responding to my accelerator inputs. As the speed started to fall, I changed the gear to fourth and that is when the engine stopped. However, it came back to life as soon as the clutch was released. But again, there was no response to my accelerator inputs. Speed was dropping continuously and after the car reached the speed of 40kmph, the car stalled on its own and a spanner mark was seen on the MID. This actually indicates- Powertrain Malfunction. After that, I cranked the engine and came back to life with the spanner mark gone. I drove the car for another 20kms after that. I tried replicating the same behaviour and I may have experienced the same lack of power for a fraction of a second when I was driving at 60 in the 2nd gear and thus the revs were high. Though I am not too sure if I actually experienced it the second time or whether it was just in my mind due to my previous experience.

Has anyone experienced this before? What could be the reason/reasons behind this?

I have driven my car on multiple highways with speed ranging from 80-110kmph. I have never witnessed anything like this before. Will recommend you to check the air filter for the engine as it may have been choked. Also inspect for other things which may not be in perfect shape. Get your car checked at the service centre as soon as possible. It maybe be a symptom of some major problem.

Re: Ford Aspire : Official Review

Has anyone experienced the phone dock lid not opening when the button is pressed?
My car's phone dock is not used often and recently I realized that the lid does not open and I have to lift it with my fingers. Thankfully it was never closed shut since there is a cable sticking out.

Is there some fix for this?

I do not have the Dock, so I can only guess. Since the dock has a spring mechanism, it is quite possible that there is rust formation on the spring. If that is indeed the case, then a quick spray of WD-40 should solve the problem. Even if that is not the case, WD-40 would do no harm.

In other news:
Has anyone heard creaking sounds while starting up the car, and when turning the knob to change the AC air flow direction. I did, and I showed it to the service centre. I was told that this was a common issue with older Fords and that greasing the motor should solve the problem. Today, I have been informed that the motor will be replaced under warranty.

Can you please specify which motor is replaced? Can you please elaborate on how did you manage to get that sound?

Since you mentioned that this behaviour happened at high revs, perhaps your engine was overheating. Did you check the temperature gauge? Was it beyond the mid level mark? Please also check your coolant levels. If coolant levels are low, then fill her up, else please get the car checked out thoroughly at the service center.

The sound comes from behind the dashboard. I first hear it after I start up the car. It's probably when the AC system is winding up. Then, when I turn the rotary knob to redirect airflow to the windscreen (I do it regularly now due to the rains). Basically a creaking sound like an old door is being opened.

thank you for your response. I have not observed this on my Aspire but will keep a check on this. Keep us updated with the work carried on your car.

This is the air deflector inside the ducts making the noise, there is a small motor that turns the deflector. Greasing usually solves it, but I don't know why the motor itself has to be changed.

This sound comes not in a brand new car but after some use. I had this issue on the Micra too and hear it on another Figo, so I assume it's a common issue on present day cars (cost cutting?).
