Yes, both these colours are good. However, my question was which of these might have a lower ambient temperature inside the cabin of out in the sun. I was reading that between silver and black cars, the silver can be cooler by a few degrees.

I talked to my RM in Hyderabad regarding the same. But since i have booked a Zeta version which have UV cut glasses, he said that the ambient temperature will be less irrespective of the colour. So i personally have opted for red. My friend has booked a Delta and since delta does not have UV cut glasses so he opted for white for the same reason.

Given the choices you want, you can go for Ray Blue, its a winner overall. But again if you are going for Zeta or Alpha colour shouldn't have any impact on the temperature inside.

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

I am sure my fellow BHPians have heard by now:

MSIL has re-released the ZETA Petrol variant of the Baleno in AT on April 7. While some folks are happy about this, I feel saddened, and extremely frustrated.

MSIL had a chance to do something groundbreaking, something that no other manufacturer has done for this segment -- release a fully loaded, top-spec, top of the line AT variant in its latest, hottest offering! Why did they not release the ALPHA petrol variant with an Auto tranny??

I have been waiting all my life for a vehicle which is an AT, in the mid- to semi-luxury hatch/small sedan segment (~8-12 lacs), that comes fully loaded in terms of features and creature comforts in line with European manufacturers. While most of the offerings in the Baleno ALPHA Petrol are to my liking, what I sorely miss is an auto tranny. This is what prevented me from booking one, and I am pretty sure I'll stay out, for what I need simply isn’t there.

Here's a list of all the exciting features that the re-released ZETA AT Petrol misses out on, compared to the top-spec ALPHA MT. These are the actual differentiators... features that buyers crave for, and do not/cannot get installed as after-market, mainly due to warranty, quality and performance issues. These should be OEM, IMO.
  • Daytime Running Lamps with LED
  • Projector headlamps
  • Reverse parking camera
  • SmartPlay Infotainment System
  • Navigation system
  • Voice command
  • Smartphone Connect/Apple CarPlay (badly needed this!!)

So you see. I am far from being at a happy place! I want all of the above (and the below) in my car!! What do I do? Ugh! Sigh!

I felt the same level of angst when Hyundai decided to strip the new i20 Active and i20 Elite off the AT! Or the more recent MSIL blunder of not giving an AT on any variant of the Brezza! Daft move, IMO! Why they did it is something I fail to understand to this date.

Now, here's a list of all the features the new ZETA gets over the DELTA AT that's right behind. Features in this list that IMO are funky/good to have/can’t live without/can’t do after-market are in boldface. Calls for some ce..le..b..rrr..ation, eh? Oh yeah!
  • AT !!!
  • Chrome door handles
  • Alloy wheels
  • UV Cut Glass (Front doors/Rear doors + Qtr glass)
  • Glove box illumination
  • Luggage room illumination
  • Front footwell illumination
  • Multi Information Speedometer Display (with colour TFT)
  • Leather wrapped steering wheel
  • Front fog lamps
  • Auto headlamps
  • Auto diming IRVM
  • Telescopic steering (Tilt is in ALL)
  • Follow me home/lead to vehicle
  • Front center armrest with storage
  • Height adjustable driver seat
  • Push start/stop with smart key

Guess I gotta wait longer for my kinda babe to waltz in! In the mean time, let me head to the shiny-new review of the Brezza. There’s something about new reviews...

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Hello friends,

Just wondering if any one facing issues with Bluetooth pairing with car's infotainment system. I see the Bluetooth connectivity behaving very erratically. I have already done the pairing but the infotainment system hardly connects. If connection is lost it becomes very difficult to reconnect. I have a Moto X Play phone could it be due to issue with phone? I have never faced any issue with connecting any other Bluetooth device.

Please note I have already taken care below things.
1. Bluetooth is on discoverable mode (for both device)
2. They are in very close proximity
3. I have only 2 device in my paired list (Phones can be paired up to 10)
4. Tried with my wife's phone (Moto G). (It is not getting paired so far)

Restarting the car or phone works sometimes (I know it sounds very weird).

Dr.Naren yeah i received a 4 digit numeric booking number which was hand written on the receipt that they provided. I read in one of the threads that it should be in some other format MSxxxxx. Is that true?

The test drive vehicle was a Zeta petrol. I did not ask what tyres they come delivered in. Since the test drive vehicle wore JK i assumed as much.

Can the dealer change the tyres before delivery? I remember for my Honda City, I had insisted on Michelin but they came with MRF. I had get it changed by going to a tyre dealer directly from the showroom.

I think I'll go for Earth-1. Gear lock is necessary as our parking is not secured and as Kamal has mentioned in earlier posts in NCR if it is not a secured parking a gear lock is a must.

The other question is delivery. Is there any way of expediting delivery? I have a delivery date of 6-7 months. Its too long to kill any enthusiasm that you may have for a new car. According to the RM, a large percentage is being exported due to high global demand for the car which is contributing to the delay.

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Hello all,

Glad to inform you all that I have booked Baleno Zeta 1.3 MJD exactly 31 days ago.
Please excuse this late sharing of information as I was busy behind job related travels.

After the usual booking processess of filling up papers, I was given
a receipt with an "Order/Invoice number : SOB15XXXXXXXX and I was informed orally the expected delivery
will be in August.

Since then, there was no further information or communication from the dealer.
Fellow Bhpians who had already booked Baleno please share some information on this;

1.Is this all enought to confirm my booking?.
2.How do I get to know the details on vehicle order status?.

Hello team,
ABS unit of baleno is made by ATE BRAKES which is part of continental group (Germany). It is imported from China.

First of all apologies for not reading your post clearly earlier. Yes the TD vehicles are generally shod with Jks but the car to be delivered to you should definitely have apollo alnacs & if thats the case I'd say if you are not a very enthusiastic driver then stick to them.

The dealers dont change the tyres on the car but they may have a provision to do it in some cases (I am not too sure). However, you could ask him as to which tyres are being installed on the Balenos rolling out from hus showroom so far & if that is different from Apollo Alnac then you could insist on him to get the apollos because maruti is offering that as standard on the Aplhas here in Mumbai.

cant comment on security levels at NCR buddy, so I'd leave the gear lock to your perusal

for expediating delivery there isnt pretty much anything that can be done other than contacting other dealers in the vicinity (including multi-car showrooms) & asking about their estimate of delivery times. If your lucky then any one of them may have a car or 2 with shorter waiting periods on account of cancellations (more likely if you arent looking for a specific colour).

You can buy the 1st three items from a Nexa dealer for around ₹. 45,000 to 50,000. Though I'm under the belief that Maruti will sooner or later make the Alpha's head unit available as a purchasable accessory but if you're not willing to wait then I think you'll be able to purchase a Pioneer NEX series HU from your local non-Nexa Maruti dealer. The cost is going to be higher but getting it installed in an authorized service center will help the car's warranty. You'll not have the fit n finish the original HU will provide but you'll get everything and more although in different form & functionality. Nexa already sells pre approved Kenwood & Sony touchscreen HUs as accessories but I'm not sure if they have Apple Car Play, mirror link, at best.

You can buy the Alpha's tail lamp too if you want a Zeta to be fully upgraded into an Alpha.

Edit: Forget to mention, depending on the dealer and your negotiation, you may able to exchange the Zeta's HU for the new touchscreen unit.

Your device seems to be dropping connections, not something that can be solved by tinkering with settings. I had problems pairing my Nexus 4 as well but getting the latest ROM and few retries solved things permanently. No pass code or was required just accepted the prompt and it got paired permanently. There are Bluetooth connectivity apps in the Play Store, download one of those and try via those apps, they have detail options and additional functionality.

Also, it is mentioned in the manual that some phones are simply incompatible or may have partial functionality like either audio streaming or calls or the other way round. So if one of those phones then nothing might help.
