How much did the new tyre cost you btw?
I bought the car from KHT Domlur. Dealer is trying to help with warranty claim from Bridgestone. It's been some time and due to my professional engagements haven't been able to do much of a follow up.
New tyre cost is INR 13,800. Not sure if it is a reasonable price, but this was the best that I got in my online search when I was in Goa.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

My compass petrol MT will be due shortly for it's 5000km / 6 months free service. The kolhapur service guys told me they will only wash the car and do diagnostics checks to see if everything is OK. but other than that no oil or filter replacements will be done.

They tried their best to get me to agree to wheel alignment(paid), without success however, after i pointed out to them that as per the table in the service / warranty manual only the 4x4 variants need it at 5000km.

But i was quite surprised that apart from washing, diagnostics checks and visual checks they won't do anything else.

Could anyone confirm that the above is correct? I was expecting them to at least top up lubricants, clean air filter etc.

Yes, there is no oil/filter replacements. However they are supposed to check all oil/fluid levels and top-up, if required.

5000Kms is too early for anything to wear out, including engine oil. The inspections may include checking if anything has gone loose because factory cannot road test all vehicles before delivery - we are doing it for them in some ways

Regarding wheel alignment - If you are someone who does frequent highway runs and is able to see if the vehicle sees alignment or balancing, then its okay to skip it however if you do not , its best to check it every 5K preferably with an outside specialist. It will prolong tire life to a very good extend.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hi All,

Recently bought the new Jeep Compass Petrol AT and few things I seek help on

1. How to navigate and find out the DTE on the instrument cluster.
2. How to reset the Trip A and B as I find this less intuitive
3. The eco mode ie., the car shuts off when we stop momentarily in traffic and re pressing the accelarator restarts. is there a way or how to disable this?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Regards,
Aravind

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Happy to share that My family and I took delivery of the Jeep Compass Diesel AT Anniversary edition just yesterday! It looks absolutely smashing in this Pearl white shade with Black and Grey highlights.

Managed to avoid the most recent price increase since I booked the car in the 3rd week of August and I also happened to choose the Pearl white shade which was in Transit. If I had opted for any another colour which was not in transit then I would have most probably ended up paying the increased prices, which by the way is quite a lot!

Initial impressions, Car feels great to drive, steering feel is a bit heavy but offers that connected feel for sure. Interiors in Black are a huge boon, I just cannot imagine maintaining the regular Beige interiors.

On the negative side, I came across a paint issue on the passenger side front door. Its quite small and almost unnoticeable, but it feels like a paint patch job, maybe at the dealer or the Factory, not sure. The dealer has assured that they will check with the service centre on what can be done.

Secondly, I hear a very weird “gurgling” sort of noise, very faint, but I can hear it when there is absolute silence. I think its from the tyres or the engine. Or maybe im thinking too much, i dont know. The brakes have some creaking noise when i start the car, the sales executive mentioned that this noise would be there for the first 100 kms or so. And the AT gear box too feels a bit hard. Anyway, i think I will use the car for a month or so and then go to the service centre if need be.

Got my Compass Petrol AT Model S (O2) two weeks back from Landmark Jeep, Andheri. The experience was pleasant and the SA was knowledgable and friendly.

In accessories, I went with the standard set + 7D mats and sunshades. Didn't go for PPF. Instead got a sealant coat done at a friends workshop. My friend who is in the abrasives and paints industry advised against PPF for me. He said people like me who stay in Mumbai, typically get their car cleaned/washed everyday by someone in their building. That guy uses plain water and the same filthy towels to clean cars. Those towels hold small dirt particles and the PPF doesn't last beyond 1-1.5 years. Instead getting a sealant coat done every year is better. It cost me 2.5k for the sealant and 7.5k labour charge for application. Picture below:

In terms of the drive feel, coming from 2 LTR XUV 500, I found the Compass petrol AT to be extremely sluggish. I, a fairly sedate person, used to become a bully driving the XUV but I have been forced back to my normal sedate self by the Compass.

Besides the sluggishness, I found the following weaknesses:
  • An extremely hard horn. You need your whole palm to press, fingers are useless.
Wireless charger is useless if you have Carplay on. The charger would prevent battery drainage but you won't get any additional juice. Without carplay too I found it slow. I have a wireless charger at home with the same specs that charges at twice the speed.
Fuel efficiency makes me cry. I'm getting between 4-5 kmpl in city driving with a very light foot. AC is on all the time. But on the same roads and with the AC on all the time, I used to get much better mileage on my XUV. I know I need to account diesel vs petrol efficiency as well as manual vs automatic gearbox. But still, should have been a little better. I've heard it improves after the first service.

Otherwise moving to an automatic from manual has been a dream, especially on Mumbai roads. The suspension is great, the feel inside the cabin is premium and the family loves the sunroof.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hi Folks,

I have a Jeep Compass Magnesia Grey (2018) Limited Plus model. However, I don't like the chrome. So I was thinking of getting matt black on that grill.

1. Shall I get a wrap or paint done, on the grill and sides wherever chrome is. I am thinking of matt black but I am open to suggestions from you experts.
2. Where can I get this done in Bangalore and how much would it cost(approx is fine). Also , if there are places close to HSR/Kormangala - it would really be comfortable.

You can get the wrap done from 3M in HSR layout. But wrap might not stay for long in those small surfaces. Price depends on the area and should be within 10k, if you are not wrapping the roof.

Congratulations neeravp.
As I also visited Landmark in Bombay earlier this year when no discounts were available for the Compass, I am curious to know if there are any offers/discounts that you received for the Model S Petrol at this time of the year.

Thanks.

Try Quadra 4 near BTM. I had seen one Octavia which was dechromed by them and it was a neat job. I was planning to get roof wrap for my Octavia from there, but finally got it done from 3M in HSR, since Quadra 4 wanted to keep the car for full day.

Tried a lot but didn't any discount. All 3 Jeep showrooms in Mumbai are owned by Landmark hence can't play one showroom against another. Also can't play one SA against another since giving discount gets them penalised.

SA told me that I did not take anything where they could earn (insurance, loan or PPF) so there was no scope for them to offer discount since they didn't get to earn much

I too have a model S and an iPhone 12. Faced the same issue myself but it has nothing to do with the phone model. The light goes red because the phone heats up too much and to protect it, phone stops charging.

Heating occurs as while the phone is getting wirelessly charged, you must also be using it via carplay for music and map. Wireless charging heats up the phone even without usage and when you also use it, too much heat gets generated.

I've stopped putting my phone on wireless charger to prevent this. Instead I connect it via the USB port on the back seat for charging. The usb port in the front charges at close to 500 mA while the one at the back charges at close to 1200 mA. Now I use carplay and charge it simultaneously, phone does not heat up and also charges quickly even when using carplay and map.

Where is the third Jeep Showroom in Bombay? I'm only familiar with the one in Worli and Andheri
