Re: Volkswagen Tiguan : Official Review

Hi All,

I am experiencing a strange problem with my 6 month old Tiguan. When I reach speeds about 90-100kmph and beyond, there is wind cutting noise which is felt inside the cabin. It is akin to AC blower noise but is felt a little more prominently. At lower speeds the NVH levels are otherwise pretty good but this problem persists whenever I go on the highways. The service center is clue less and is offering lame excuses but haven't found a solution as of now. Please let me know if anyone had faced this and if yes, was it solved by the service guys?

TIA

I recently did a long test drive if Tiguan. I drove it up to 115 KMPH on NICE road. I could clearly feel prominent wind noise above 100 KMPH. Road noise and engine noise were hardly audible. However, one can't miss the wind noise. It looks like this is the normal trait of the car.
Request other owners to share their experience.

Thanks, CarML,

For some reason it's very difficult to reconcile with the fact that it is a usual trait of the vehicle. If other owners have experienced this, please validate. If not the noise, my mind can make peace and bury it under loud music.

Posted a query about Tiguan tyres at https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...ml#post5828005 (VW Tiguan : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread). Since that thread doesn't have much traction (he he), just notifying here.

I recently saw a Tiguan at the stockyard and it had the Hankook Ventus Evo S. Although it was a 23 make so your dealer must be correct, current cars must be shipping with Continentals. Hankooks are the best in this segment by a fair margin, if only they were as affordable as other brands. I recently got Pirelli Scorpion Verde auto seal in stock size, I like the tyre. Good grip on both dry and wet surfaces, good braking, and very little noise. Cost me around 18K per tyre including road force balancing, alignment and new metal valves. There’s also Vredestein Ultrac Vorti. But I don’t have personal experience with that.

Re: Volkswagen Tiguan : Official Review

I recently replaced the tires on my Tiguan TDI, which has covered only 26,000 km over six years. The current set of Continental tires, purchased for approximately ₹17,000 each from the official VW dealer, was manufactured in August 2024, so there are no concerns there. As I have not driven the car since the tire replacement, I cannot yet assess their performance. Additionally, given my limited use of the vehicle, I am uncertain whether I will notice any significant difference.

Hi, Since you are based in Ahmedabad, would you mind recommending a good dealer in Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar? I am relatively new here, and I am not impressed with the tyre guys in Gandhinagar. Please could you also suggest some good wheel alignment / balancing shops around?

Re: Volkswagen Tiguan : Official Review

It's been more than year since I sold my Tiguan CL TDI to a friend. Still miss the car. My friend got the dreaded DSG issue in a month of usage. Supported him to get it resolved. The whole thing took almost 3 months. It's been running smoothly since then. Bottomline is that:
Car is really good, however if you end up with any major issues specially DSG related then it takes a lot of time and energy before you can get it resolved.

What size are you using in Continental ? A friend is not happy with the 225/65/17 Goodyears tyres on his car and is looking for an upgrade.

If your friend has a Tiguan Comfortline (only CL gets 17s), 225/60 is the best compromise. 225/65 will cause a large speedo error plus handling will take a hit. 215/60 will drop sidewall height too much and ride will suffer. 215/65 is unavailable in most brands.

I got Bridgestone Turanza t001s in 225/60 for some 12k a piece and I am quite happy with them. Only Yoko and I think MRF were available otherwise. Tyre options are limited for the Comfortline TDI
